Hi Tony. Make a little jig to help with spacing the sleepers as per the Bullhead track - depending on your design of jig, you could "space" several sleepers at once.

Hi mate! Great little update. For me it's about how you're likely to use the layout. If the TMD is going to be effectively a storage extension then maybe put it on the right hand side and use the extra space. I think if you go for the smaller one on the left, perhaps make it a fuelling area or just a stabling point rather than a small TMD. I think either way it'll be great though. I think if it was me I'd go with the smaller version on the left and use the larger space for some scenics.

Hi mate, thanks for the comment! Yeah I tend to agree with you. I’m leaning more towards the smaller side. I do like the idea of a fuelling area too! Hadn’t thought of that, thanks!

Tony, too many decisions at once focus on an area get that the way you're pleased with then carry on to the next area or project area. I have been in this hobby for over fifty years and I task each individual project area as it comes. At least get a Main line running then tackle all the other bits and bobs. And if you find you're not happy with a certain element or area then by all means change it. Never be afraid to make changes because it's your layout and you should build what pleases you. Great work thus far. Thanks for sharing and the update. Carry on.

Hi James, it’s only two problems. I need to get the bridge sorted so I can finish the double track loop. And I want to decide which side to use around the station to complete the track laying. There will be plenty of changes in the future, I’m sure, but I need to get the first ideas down and sorted. Appreciate your comment and support!

Nice update Tony! I'd use the larger area past the branch line station for a tmd, maybe have a run around/ second line to bypass the station. I'd the get bridge sorted ASAP so you can run some trains! What type of bridge are you looking for? Have you considered using a 3d printer to make the truss work. I'd be happy to help with the design!

Hello! I did originally think of having a run round when designing the track plan, but I ruled it out for a few reasons. The bridge, I think I have it sorted now, but I really appreciate you offering your help! I may still take you up on that though, if my current plan doesn’t work haha!

What would you find more beneficial in terms of storage? If longer DMU’s are preferred I’d opt for the TMD to the right of the station. Is it possible to elevate your town on the left hand side with lift and stair access down to the platforms? If so, it’ll open up scope for a large town scene in what is essentially a smaller area that doesn’t serve loco storage as well as that right hand area. As to the bridge, I can only think of laser cut bowstring bridge sides that would probably span that gap and there’s plenty of those out there on the market. If I think of anything else I’ll give you a shout. Paul

Hi Paul! Thanks for the comment! I hadn’t thought of raising that town scene up. Very nice idea, it really does open up some good options! And I think I have an idea for the bridge sorted, we’ll see how it goes though haha!

I quite like the idea of being able to fit 5he DMU’s in so would rather build a bigger TMD. Sometimes it is best to have ideas mulling around for a time while you think of options. Usually get some inspiration from seeing something on someone else’s video and think, that’s it!. Cheers, Chris.

Cheers Chris, that’s a good point. I do think I’m leaning more towards the smaller area atm. But gonna have to give it some more thought as you say!

Thanks for uploading Tony! My first question is about your brown board you are using as road bed. Is that hardboard of some kind? Did you paint it or did it come that way? I ask bc I use something very similiarly.

Hello! I have 9mm ply as my baseboard top / roadbed on elevated sections. It comes in a reddish natural colour, but I painted it all brown as a base colour. Hope that helps!

Sometimes less is more. Do you want more moves or less to set up passenger trains?
@TonyDocksStation5 жыл бұрын
Less is more is really the aim here. Think I’m gonna go with the smaller left side!

Sorry I'm still learning about railways and just curious as to what TMD means.

For me 2nd option. TMD on the right. I think a TMD on the left would look too crammed.

Why not both options?
@TonyDocksStation5 жыл бұрын
Both would be too much. I want to try and keep enough space for scenery
@collinsngauge54935 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony Decisions Decisions Decisions? If it was me I would have both and move the right side closer to curve then get the road in but that's me. Isn't model railwaying fantastic we can all do something different and it still would look great. Colin
@TonyDocksStation5 жыл бұрын
Hi Colin! Thanks for your comment. I don’t particularly want to do both, as I really want to leave as much space open for scenery as I can. I’m leaning more towards to smaller side based on everyone’s suggestions so far.
