Deck Trains Week Seventy Three

WEEK SEVENTY-THREE: Jul 24, 2024 { German Traditional Folk Music }
For Christmas in July, how about another Starter Set? This 1970 Fleischmann® #6313 features ‘Our Old Black Annie’, an 0-4-0 BO Steam Tank shunting or branch line loco with her tin type rolling stock. Actually this set’s ‘Anna’ is the ‘Junior Range’ version with simplified valve gear, while the #4000 ‘Our Old Black Annie’ has full valve gear. Anyway, we are pulling:
a #1205 DB High Side Gondola,
and the #1210 DB Closed Box Goods Wagon.
This set comes with a circle of brass R1 curved track and the 110volt transformer.
For Part Two we will ‘bring back’ some more previously shown tinplate rolling stock! But of course, also our early version of the #5569 track cleaning wagon.
This model does 118.24kph ( 73.47mph ) at 50% power around my loop. We all know a typical 0-4-0 shunter will not exceed 100kph. I have tried running this as close to 25% power as possible for a more realistic speed. As next week we see a nearly identical start set from Fleischmann®, I thought it be fun to close with, both running in circles.
As this was second hand several issues are seen: no connecting rods between the driving wheels and a black roof - instead of gray - on the closed box goods wagon. And I can not be certain for a year of issue as I have not found this in any regular catalog, so it must have been listed in a ‘novelties’ issue.
