Thing is, there needs to be a balance. It's all fine and dandy that there are some people who are having an easier time of it than others, whether that be because they have experience in the genre, or are more suited to the gameplay, but part a game needs to be able to attract new players as well. I think the game is great, but I do think it needs some balance adjustments. NL only really got to show off Act 1 in the video so it's hard to really show people what the complaints are about. Act 1 is actually fairly standard in terms of difficulty, its the jump to Act 2 that's turning people away. I think the main issue is pacing and a lack of agency in Act 1. Act 1 has only a few choices you can make before the boss and then you're immediately chucked into act 2 where the fights are a LOT more brutal and require much more mastery of the mechanics then Act 1. It's very easy to beat the act 1 boss only to immediately get bodied by the first fight in act 2. I think this is a result of the devs wanting the game to be difficult enough to warrant experienced players to want to keep playing it, but it means newer players get frustrated banging their head against the wall, especially because there are fights that counter certain decks HARD. While I don't think its impossible, and the Act 2 fights are more of a skill check then being unbalanced, I think this game could have really benefited from a similar system to ascension in StS. That way you have something for players to work towards, but you can give them a more gradual progression of difficulty rather then slamming them in the face with a sudden difficulty spike.

The game is reasonably challenging and slightly unbalanced, but it has the much bigger issue of not giving the player any agency at all. Compared to StS, there's no pathing, no relics, no card upgrades, no events and overall much less ability to improve your deck before the final boss. Very little was added to replace these mechanics, and combined with a lack of ascensions, it's a pretty underwhelming package gameplay-wise. That said, i agree it should be a "very positive" on Steam, given that similar games have that rating.

Small version: The game isn't exactly "hard", it's that you feel weak in comparison to what enemies do and how easy you can lose to RNG. Full version: Everybody be like "it got review bombed because of the difficulty" meanwhile the game is difficult because of half the enemies having "aimless" or spikes/retaliate and a lot of mechanics are just "it's not completly broken but you might just lose on the spot if RNG doesn't help you out". I mean, there is literaly a card that says "mark an enemy and and ally at random and when one of them dies the other one loses 100 life" and if that cards marks your hero at random you lose on the spot because the moment the enemy dies your hero dies too. And if you say "don't use it then" obviously the counterargument is "why does it exist then?" -to make you lose through RNG, which this game excels at. So yeah, saying that negative reviews are because of difficulty while you lose from RNG is not exactly fair either. Also: People are allowed to have a negative opinion on things, have you even thought that they might be right? Or just because it's related to the difficulty (RNG) of the game it doesn't count? PS: By "you" I mean the reader of this comment, not specifically Northernlion.

@Sifd Жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that A LOT of people DON'T watch youtubers play it, which might make them lose even more often to mechanics they are not used to. Also keep in mind that content creators are most of the time successful BECAUSE they know how to play games, which skews the opinion towards "hey look, he beats it, therefore people who say it's hard are just bad" meanwhile forgetting that the person they are talking about is supposed to be good at games. Also there are people that buy 2-3 games per month and this was one of them and it cost them 20$ but have now realized they don't enjoy it because it's hard and you have to minmax to win, are they also not allowed to downvote? You see, this whole argument about "the people voting are just bad" can backfire a million different directions, how about we LISTEN to the people? AND KEEP ONE THING IN MIND: If you enjoy the game, who cares what rating it has.
