Your gate looks good. The hammer you did your usual, crap to ice cream. The style is similar to the one my brother used on highway bridges. One shot driving duplex nails. It’s a nice addition to the hammer rack. The Jack was a great score. The commercial ones you can count on. Thank You

Yes! I had a nice old floor Jack it didn't work. Probably around 60 years old, so rather than take the time to work on it I just threw it in with the rest of the metal. My house had burned, and I just didn't have the time to monkey with Anything. keep up the good work John! will keep watching. Eagle PS love the hammer restore.

I have a jack and if I were to see one like the one you brought home, then it would be two jacks! What a find. Beautiful job on the hammer and the gate. Caesar Augustus suffered from migraines so that is a good indicator for how long they have plagued humanity. Mine take the form of Visual Auras, last anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes, and leave me feeling like I just finished a marathon. Afterwards just mental and physical lethargy, no nausea and fortunately only six to eight times in a year. I’ve written down when they start and end and draw a crude form of what I see in my vision, mostly a shimmering backwards C shape in electrifying colors. First time it occurred I thought I was having a stroke, but that was fifty years ago. They’re not something I’d go out and cheer about. Thanks again, wonderful info!

Hi John, sorry to hear you've been under the weather, I don't suffer from Migraines myself, but my wife does, ( probably from living with me ) so I know how debilitating they can be ! We all know the exaggerators every workplace has them ! The Decker hammer came out great, you kept the original character whilst repairing the wear and deffects. The jack looks fantastic, looks like it's quite low profile too, for a well built commercial item, which adds to its functionality, looking forward to seeing what you do with it ! Nice gate too, btw !

That hammer is beautiful. There may be some collectors who like it with the patina, but I'm glad there is a little less patina in the world. I couldn't make such a nice looking gate in the short amount of time as you, but I still enjoy my more-or-less shop set up. What kind of maniac would throw away such a good commercial Jack? I tried to get my chinesium auto store purchased hydraulic jack repaired once, but the repairman told me they weren't really repairable.

Great video 👍 That Decker 21oz. hammer 🔨 you cleaned up and restored turned out fantastic. I like the fix you done at the bottom of the handle for the damage, using a new piece of hard wood 🪵 to fill in that missing gap or split, awesome job! 👍 The hammer head turned out great. Now the hammer 🔨 looks like N.O.S. You took this one over the top,Fantastic Job!👍The gate you put up looks fantastic ,awesome carpentry skills👍👍. The Poor Mans Flea Market red floor jack you got was a great find . Was there any markings on the jack to tell you who made it? The Sears jack you had on your porch is the same as my Pro Lift I got from Advance Auto in the mid 90’s. They must have made some for Sears back then. They are pretty nice Jack’s. But the red jack you have looks more commercial or tool truck brand, can’t get over what a nice jack you found, that is awesome 👍. Well again great video and can’t wait to see what you do on Wednesday. Have a great evening. 😄👍👍

Beautiful restoration of the hammer. I was impressed by the gate as I usually build them from pallet wood as previous store bought one's don't seem to last in the UK weather. The last one built has lasted 12 years at my daughter's home (ours is over 18 years old) but it does require nice long pallet wood.

Looks great. Been using my Hart Decker (smooth face) since the 1980s. Probably on the fourth handle. I bought extra handles when I learned they were going out of business and I think I'm down to the last one. It's my go-to for framing, siding, decks and finish work. Great hammer. It outlasted me and I'd bet it would make it through another carpenter's career.

The hammer came out well done. I have a hard time leaving as is. If it's important I will pass it on to someone who will like it all "patinaed", if it's mine I make it mine. Not to say I have old tools that were great as is, but busted handles and dings in the head, well that has to be fixed. It's exactly what old timers did. It was theirs so they used it and fixed as needed. Some of those fixes should be as celebrated as is an original tool. That is a nice jack. My son bought a big one like that but it's a bear to haul from the garage to a vehicle in the driveway. Your back knows you lifted it. I should add that carpenters do not like working with machinist on a wood project. To persnickity on measurements and keeping their tools clean.

Great episode! Loved your gate--excellent work! Also, your 'clean-up' of the hammer was top notch! I really liked how you added the new wood to the end of the handle. And the jack was a super find! I wonder how much $$ worth of quality stuff that house has given away at the 'Poor Man's Flea Market"?

Hammer looks nice Scout! Just a tip that maybe you already know on how you can tighten a loose handle on a hammer. You can put some regular antifreeze coolant in a pan and put the handle in it and let it soak up a few hours. It will expand the dry wood and tighten it up. The coolant doesn't evaporate like water does. It only works if the handle end isn't already sealed, in which case you would have to sand the sealer off. Linseed oil and Loctite thread locker also works, though not as fast. Just remember to keep the coolant away from the kitty cats. I'm so glad you rescued that jack! It is definitely a quality older one and I don't get why someone would throw that out. I was thinking maybe the cylinder packing was gone or something needed rebuilt or repaired. Your gate turned out nice looking too!

Last week I had a bad paw that got infected so all the stitches were buried in the red inflamed glove that used to be my hand. The nurse at the hospital asked me what my pain level was out of 10 ? I said "I don't even know how to answer that. As far as I can tell if you can still speak to let somebody know, it has to be under 8 out of 10." She laughed and told me that she had a patient the other day that told her it was 15 out of 10 and he was browsing his mobile phone and chuckling while he was waiting for the doctor.
