People of tal-konkan (and whole Western ghats region from Gujarat till T.N , Kerala) need to understand what is the importance of Western ghats. If they understand it's importance through these type of awareness talks, (including Prasad Gavade's precious efforts) then people will surely save their paradise with sustainable livelihood. Madhav gadgil commission must be implemented on immediate basis.

Greatly presented. I think Government of Maharashtra is taking steps toward this issue. We all do understand saving western Ghat is upmost important, as time ticking we are losing biodiversity of said places. Why I say govt is crouching to achieve a goal is by a step taken by them is a declaration of Tillari conservation reserve. At least state governments FD saved their patch of forest by this step. Next, we need to put effort into villagers, Grampanchyt by educating them, how important is Western that's an ecosystem. Also, we need to show them the way how they can start eco tourism and get benefit out of it along with saving forest. I live there last 10 years and run wildlife field station and nature stay. I do understand the need of time but also we need to understand villagers problems. I believe if all conservationist sit together you can find solution easily. No doubt! There is mining mafia and political pressure. But if we have noble cause we can come over it.
