Many organizations both local and national will take used cosmetics and skincare and re-home them to for instance-victims of domestic violence and other marginalized groups in need to people who would be completely grateful for them. There are ways to sanitize compacts/shadow pans, etc. I think it's important to keep cosmetics and skincare out of landfills if they can still be used. Even eyeshadow are pigments for artists.

@@TracyD2 Commetning in KZbin videos won't make a difference to the companies. Contact companies directly with feedback whether it's skincare, food, appliances etc. They have whole departments on staff ready to use your feedback to improve their products for their customers.

I don’t have personal experience because I never had the chance to buy CYO but Taylor Wynn was also a huge fan and said the Purito BB cream was very similar. The Purito is a holy grail for me it’s looks beautiful and wears all day

As far as the Rare Beauty foundation goes, it will separate if you don’t use it, that’s is why it has the ‘marble’ in it when you shake it. It helps it to distribute the product again. There isn’t anything wrong with it. I love mine and have had it since it released. No worries about it going bad.

I used the Kick-Ass Foundation from Soap & Glory based on your recommendation and found the very last bottle of it at Walgreens. I think it had been opened/used in store but I didn't care. It was on clearance for under $4 and a shade too light but I didn't care. It was the best foundation I've ever used!!!

I prefer a more glowy look like you do which is why I liked the Lisa Eldridge foundation when I first tried it but wasn’t in love until…I mixed it with a little bit of moisturizer and it turns into a longwear version of the Koh Gen Do but more natural!

Thank you. I am in the market for a new foundation. I was deciding between: Hauls Labs, Nars light reflecting or Revealer foundation. I've decided to go with the Revealer foundation. I tried a couple light reflecting samples while I do like it I can't find a good shade match and it clings to my dry chin. I was 100% going to go with Hauls labs until you said it's a no so I might check it out in the fute but I am happy and excited to try out the Revealer foundation. The revealer concealer is my #1 so I'm expecting good things!

I have oily skin and I like the Saie tinted moisturizer. I like wearing it to work. I do have to make sure that I use a mattifying powder and the right setting spray. Thanks for the video!

I still love the Ilia Skin Tint and wear it all the time. It covers my redness on my cheeks when I add a little bit more there, but it doesn’t cover my freckles when I only apply a light layer. So I can just add a little extra on my cheeks and blend it in with my IT Cosmetics foundation brush. I also still love the Chanel Les Beiges Eau de Tint *BUT* I bought Supergoop! Glowscreen last year and discovered that the Glowscreen gave me a very similar lightweight golden glow while protecting my skin. I recently bought the large size Glowscreen during the Sephora sale because I love it so much. I sometimes add a little Eau de Tint on top of the Ilia. The Glowscreen also looks amazing just by itself and a little concealer. It’s so easy to just rub a little Glowscreen on my face, add a swipe of Shimmershade or two, a little mascara, and lip gloss and run out the door having protected my skin from the sun and looking put together. For body I love the Glow Oil because I have dry skin and love how the glow oil soaks into my skin but doesn’t look like makeup. I rave about Supergoop! Glowscreen and the Shimmershade SPF 30 cream eyeshadows, but I don’t get anything out of recommending them. I just love the products and am thrilled to find a sunscreen product I can put on my eyes that doesn’t burn or drip into my eyes or irritate my contacts. I’m still looking for a good SPF lip balm or gloss. The Supergoop! Play has a weird texture and taste, and I am allergic to apples and oranges, so there’s a lot of products that I can’t use. I’ve been considering the Coola Lip Oil even though some reviews say it tastes weird. I think I’d like the texture and can wear whatever I want underneath.

I have dry skin and get dry patches from most foundations. Like you, I was a victim of the CYO foundation, bought it in 2019 after watching rave reviews from Taylor Wynn and loved it a lot. From then on the only other foundation I found pleasant is the Purito BB Cream. It’s around the same price range as the Soap and Glory one, was also recommended by Taylor Wynn. I find it probably more dewy than CYO and has slightly less coverage, but enough for my day-to-day need. The worst part is probably its abysmal shade range :(

Everyone raves over the Kosas foundation (I love Kosas) and it does look lovely but the smell… I just cannot get passed it. 🤢 It has a very “off” smell that I cannot seem to tolerate. Love the Tower 28 though! Need to try that IT CC glow-that seems right up my alley as the original was too thick for my taste. Love these videos! This is super common with the Kosas concealer (and "clean" beauty in general, quotation marks because its not a regulated claim, anyone can call their products "clean") because part of the attempt to make things "clean" often means removing stabilizing ingredients and preservatives that give products a longer shelf life. I find that the concealer lasts like 6 months to a year for me which sucks since I like the texture so much.

Unrelated, but I started to really, really appreciate preservatives in beauty products when I bought some “clean and natural” handmade soap on Etsy. I was using it in the shower and realized it felt…slimy? I had used it a few times before and I noted the unpleasant textural change before inspecting more closely. It was mold, guys. Straight up mold 🤮🤮🤮 I no longer buy beauty products from individual people. Blech. So gross.

I had a similar experience with my Bite lipstick. It grew mold around 6 months after I got it. Got a terrible lip reaction and I had to stop wearing any kind of color lip products for a whole year (this was before Covid). From then on I started to really appreciate reasonable preservative in cosmetics products, they’re there for a reason.

Coming from someone that has worked in the makeup industry for a long time, i could say that it takes almost 3 years for a foundation to actually expire. The amount of sunscreen that they put in the product, is not enough to actually do damage to the skin. The foundation saperating is not a sign of the foundation expiring, if it is oil base it will separate all it need is a good shake and thats all. Companies used the expiring thing because they noticed it gets people to buy products more often, it has nothing to do with the product going bad.

I hate being that person but for Koh Gen Do, the "Gen" is pronounced with the "Gh" sound rather than the 'J' (so it's not Koh-Jen-Doe", but pronounced like it's spelt). Also, the Ilia skin tint shade is pronounced "Tuh-loom; a city in the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico (:

After finding a holy grail foundation like CYO for $5 or Soap & Glory for $10 (100% makeup and still affordable!) paying $40 and up for foundations like Koh Gen Doh, Tom Ford, Chanel and the other pricey brands ceases to be an option for me. If someone can do it better for significantly less, I'd feel like a fool for paying an exorbitant fee for something of equal quality. Would you spend $30 for a McDonald's hamburger served on a fancy plate? No thank you.
