You were pretty cut throat haha. 16 is not bad at all. You could perhaps pop out the shades for the 2 quints from ND that you like the most and declutter the rest? I know her big palettes have the pins for rearranging, not sure about the small ones.

Sadly the minis dont have this system. Or else i would have kept them to rearrange ❤️ i felt for 64 palettes 16 is pretty cut throat. But 50 % would have been even better. Maybe I'll declutter again at the end of the year

@Mariam A. i get it hahaha. I am also not a sophisticated lady. But I think coz i am so heavy handed with application i like softer eyeshadows and smaller brushes more coz i tend to get more success. The guerlain eyeshadow palette for instance was sooo pigmented on me. I looked terrible. I had to try it at least 3 times before i got a pretty look out of it. I love pigmented eyeshadow looks but i guess not on me?

My 2023 goal is to get down to 50. I think it'll be possible due to the palette craze dying down over the last couple years. Last time I counted was last year, 80 something. Probably 90 now

There is always a number goal! My goal is 30. I am currently at 48 (eyeshadows and face palettes total). I feel so close but these last palettes are the hardest. I never co considered myself sentimental yet i cant deny each palette still brings me joy. I might try to declutter at the end of the year

Hi! I was thinking about selling mine coz I only used it twice. I clean the packaging and I sanitize my palettes with 70% alcohol. My biggest issue with selling is that I am based in the Netherlands and if I don’t sell locally it might not be a good deal due to shipping costs ❤️

My dearest Sonia, we need to have a little talk about thinking more before purchasing such expensive palettes!🙅🏼‍♀️ It really threw me after seeing the palettes you decluttered. I understand how excited we can be when there's a new release, but when dealing in luxury items you should think just that little bit more about whether you'd wear each shade or not. I do not own a single palette that I won't use every shade inside. To me, it's just a waste. So many of those palettes that are leaving look like they've hardly been touched. I know you love your neutrals, and so do I, so why pick up so many of them or pick up colourful palettes like the Natasha Denona? I was actually cheering on the last one and hoping you would keep it as I couldn't understand why you wouldn't use those two shades. I totally get that ridiculous CT Set. Whoever designed that must not use much make-up. When I first saw it, I was shocked that there weren't lids for them all, as it just doesn't make sense. Don't get too excited about the new Hourglass release, as I saw that all six shades are repeats. I haven't a clue why they'd do that. I'd hate to think how much you paid for the Olivia Palermo palette! I know you wouldn't use the blue and the rest of the palette is basic neutrals that you've already got. Maybe you should go out of your comfort zone just once, to start with, and buy the Natasha Denona Glam Palette? I know you'd love it and look how many stunning shades it has. I understand that you're hesitant about buying larger palettes, but maybe this could be a good test for you. If it doesn't work out, just blame me! Make sure you get it in a Sale though. I bought her Love Palette last year for 60% Off. Always be careful when shopping Dior Online. I don't think I saw a photo that really encompassed what Miss Dior truly looked like. As I have been buying some more colourful Quints during the year, I was so excited when Miss Dior, Golden Bouquet and Spring/Summer '23 came along and I adore each one! It's funny, as I don't get a very pink look when using the Miss Dior. It's more of that deeper shade that can be seen, plus that lovely shade in the middle. The topper shade is the belle of the ball due to it sparkling different shades in various lighting. I adore mine. Maybe you could give it a second chance? I can't believe that you're getting rid of Golden Bouquet! It's exactly the same as Grand Bal except it's a toned down version, not as shimmery. I only had to look at the picture and clicked 'add to cart'. I had bought Chanel's No.5 Quad the Christmas before last which has a similar set up. It had a black shade along with three versions of gold, so the Dior reminded me of that and how many options you have. I know you said that you can only get one look from it, but you have to stretch your imagination a bit more. It did look very nice on you, but as you've now got Grand Bal, I suppose there's not much point except if you want a more subtle look. I haven't got Grand Bal as I prefer the subtleties of Golden Bouquet. It's just too shimmery for me. You know, I still can't understand why Victoria Beckham doesn't put dividers between her powdered products? They're so pretty, yet what happens when the shadow goes down and you're constantly picking up other shades? Anyway, I'm proud of you for cutting down on what you felt you needed, even if I didn't agree with each choice. That's why I don't need to declutter, also because I don't film for YT, as I never purchase something I won't love to continue using. I hate to see you loose so much money on items that haven't given you joy. Just be that bit stricter with yourself when buying and question whether you'll ever use each shade. The largest palettes I own have 18 pans inside, I know it's far too many. Pat McGrath's Celestial Palettes plus the Byredo Kalahari & Remembrance Palettes. Yet in each palette, I'll use every shade. Have a think about trying the Natasha Denona Glam Palette or even her Dream Palette. It may just open up a whole new world? Hi Kris! I admit in my first year of KZbin i went a little crazy with my reviews and purchases. I do consider each purchase an investment for my channel so i am not too hard on myself. This year i bought 1 eyeshadow palette on sale (tom ford body heat) and in May i bought the 2 glossier ones and the unleashia. So 4 in total! Which compared to last year i had purchased 22 or something haha. I didnt anticipate the glossier ones but i couldn't resist my cousin going to the US and not trying them out. I knew my KZbin channel would be an expensive hobby. Especially coz i like luxury products and i love reviewing. My collection is a combination of encyclopedic knowledge and my preference. I love trying new formulas and finding the best of the best even though the color stories are literally the same! As long as i can use it for filming and can enjoy wearing it i feel like there is a reason to keep the product around. Since grand bal is a permanent Dior palette and golden Bouquet is not i dont need both. It doenst mean i hated the palette. I like the finish of grand bal better. I love the Olivia Palermo palette but unfortunately its such a niche brand that not many people viewed my reviews on the brand. The mattes are also not my favorite so i am letting it go. I did enjoy it. I am more picky with launches and also i know myself a little more now. Currently i love foundation free as a base and minimal eyeshadow looks. Lip oils i enjoy a lot. So i also want my collection to reflect that. Its why i wont invest in a larger palette at the current moment. Makeup preferences change all the time. I am open to a larger PML or ND palette❤️ it just doenst make sense for me right now. I declutter palettes i love but nowhere do i find anything a waste as long as i was able to review it. As someone on the platform and wants to review makeup .... hits and misses will happen. Holy grails will happen and also replacement holy grails. I cant wait to see my collection in 5 years and see what it looks like 😘 I love that our preferences are different. Its why makeup is so versatile and fun. You can go every direction. I also love when we come together and love a palette together.

@@violetviolet888 hii! I don’t throw away any makeup unless it’s expired or used up! But these palettes all will find homes eventually. I’d rather declutter them and have someone else love on them than having them collect dust in my drawer. Declutters I know can be controversial but I do see my collection as both a working collection and a personal one. If I purchase it and review it someone else might be able to save some 💰 moniez!

@@sonia.butler Makeup doesn't actually "expire". It's the industry's way of makeup consumers re-purchase. The product does't magically turn bad on a certain day. It's all about how you use the product. Don't use your fingers directly, always use something sterile to pick up product and it will last indefinitely. ""Dry powders and blushes housed in compact containers can actually last for several years," Rouleau asserts. "Bacteria don't thrive in a dry environment, so it's perfectly fine to keep a blush for three to four years as long as it looks okay and still delivers results."
