THANK you for showing the messy 'BEFORE'! I see so many KZbinrs showing a neat "messy" closet and then an even neater "decluttered" closet, and that just perpetuates the unattainable 'standard' that especially young viewers might see and think that they are failures for not being able to achieve. I'm a neat person myself, as I'm fairly sure you are, and my closet as well as yours just.. gets messy sometimes. It happens and it's fine, and I think it's great that you as a person with a following aren't afraid to show that.

Just an advice, maybe you could do with the Marie kondo way of folding things and storing them in your drawers, that way you can see everything when you open a drawer, it would help with keeping things less messy, and that way you get to use things you have but often forget about! I know it helped me loads! :)

I came to recommend the same! I’ve actually been doing it for 6 or 7 years now and I find I wear so many more of my clothes because I can see them all! My drawers are also far less likely to get into the messy ‘before’ state because you don’t have to dig through to find things. It’s a bit of a time investment when you first do it as you obviously have to refold all your clothes at once, but after that it’s no different than putting away clothes normally 😁

I did the big declutter of my wardrobe and bedroom drawers last month. So many people seem to be doing that while we are all grounded. It was really satisfying once I finished it, thankfully before all the charity shops closed. Now I have to do books, DVDs and CDs. I hope you didn't throw your luxury packaging away. You can get good money for those on eBay. I sold a heap that I didn't need anymore a few years ago and raised enough money for some new fine jewellery items that I had been after for a while. It's amazing how every little bit can add up to an astounding amount at the end.

If you switched to suede/felt type hangers you could probably fit more in your wardrobe and they are slip proof. I did and I love them I had so much space just from switching the hangers from the plastic ones

Hello, if Imay offer a suggestion based on experience, change out your hangers for slim hangers I use Joy Mangano huggable hangers from HSN, but I'm sure there are similar ones available where you live, it will double the hanging space available. I've used them for over a decade and they are the only hangers I use. I don't recommend products but this is one I stand by. Also, if possible as mentioned below, the Marie Kondo method of folding really makes a difference in seeing what you have in drawers. Stay safe.

I would recommend getting skinnier hangers. I switched from wooden hangers to velvet ones and it made a huge difference! I was quite surprised.

Velvet non-slip hangers save space so you’ll be able to hang more clothes. I swapped my wood for the velvet kind and it made a huge difference.

Hi Amie! If you throw away the Chanel shoppers and boxes I have a little tip for you: keep the camelias! I personally glued them on my plain white frame mirror from Ikea (I put them in the corners) and it looks so pretty! Or you could glue them on the hangers!

Woahhh i have 2 pairs.. i cant even find 1 pair that fit my body right... always settle for "good enough i guess" the day i find a pair that fit like a glove and flatter me and are comfy. I may buy 31 pairs 😂😂 Any one know any jean brands made for tiny waists and big bum, thighs and hips? That are super high waisted and long leg! Skinny jeans and no holes or rips!? Great job at decluttering 👍 I have also started decluttering my clothes and other stuff during this stay home period. Some tricks I have learnt to squeeze more pieces of clothing is to use thinner clothes hangers for dresses, tops and skirts. For my camisoles, I usually hang 2 to 3 pieces on a single hanger 😉

I have an open closet and it does get dusty, especially if you have your dressing table in there like I do and are using face powders, hairspray etc. I have to pull everything out every couple of months and dust everything. It does show you what you don’t use though! As for guests, I leave the door open. If I know people well enough for them to be in my home, they already know what to expect from it!

K Dg That’s the reason I went with doors, the only problem is you can’t put your drawers at the lowest setting because of the door hinge, but Ikea do a basket that will fit in that area instead.

An idea for all the shopping bag that you have a hard time tossing out. I saw on poshmark that someone turn them into artwork by cutting the shopping bag and framing them. It looks really great and it adds an additional touch to the closet or office :)

nice progress. i do think though that with the way your drawers are arranged and clothes folded in them, you'll have harder time keeping it tidy, even with fewer items. some drawer dividers could help with that

You have a lovely closet but I feeI that it may be a little under utilised. If you switch your hangers to the thin type, you can almost double your closet space. That's what I did and I can hang a lot more clothes now. And if you fold your clothes the Marie Kondo way, that also help saves some space in the drawer. But then again, to each its own. Maybe you don't like your closet to look fully occupied, maybe you are not into Marie Kondo's folding method, and that's cool too. Great job decluttering btw!

Debra Quaka I like to hang everything too, except for trousers/jeans as I find them too bulky when hung up, so I just fold them in half and lay them in a drawer.
