I just recently went through my desk drawers and realized how many colored pencils I had! I was able to pass on three different sets of unopened colored pencils and still had about 100 different colors left. That alone is plenty for a lifetime, so I added them to my no-buy list

Can't believe you found things to declutter after having just moved into a new house. You're reminding me to keep on decluttering because it is a continuous process. Lastly, now that you have spread out plants thru out the place it looks so beautiful and cozy... even if your personal taste is a simplified space. I want to do a general declutter. I feel like I’m always doing this which helps. Give a quick look through of my bathroom cupboards and drawers every so often. I’ll look through a random drawer in the kitchen etc. Great idea on doing a full sweep!

Since I still live with my parents, my decluttering is kind of limited to my bedroom and bathroom, but occasionally I'll go through our extensive movie collection or some other room in the house. I like to follow the same rule as you and ask my parents if they can see themselves using a certain item, and if they say yes, I won't do anything with it. Like Christopher, they don't consider themselves to be minimalists, but at least they try to put forth a little effort every now and then haha ^,^

Swear my bookcase is the most difficult thing to declutter! On the note of gifts, I fell rude decluttering gifts but there’s comes a point it’s too much! I’ll usually keep it for 6 months, if I don’t use it, I’ll then declutter it with hope whoever gifted me it has forgotten about it 😂

Before getting rid of things, see if you can repurpose it! I like to cut up older towels so i have multiple wipes to clean tables, windows, sinks, etc.

My husband and daughter don't throw anything away. My husband has his garage to be a slob, and my daughter can keep all her stuff in her room. The rest of the house is mine! After 15 years and about to do our 4th move which is across the country, my husband is finally downsizing a ton of his stuff. I feel your pain.

Look at A Slob Comes Clean(who has books- "How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind", and "Decluttering at the Speed of Life") has helped with mindset stuff immensely, she started decluttering her house with no one else on board at all, and they slowly got on board. The Minimal Mom has a lot of great tips, as does Clutterbug. The combination of these ladies have helped me so much! I recently discovered the Hoarder's Heart! I discovered her with the collabs they've all been doing, and it's been helpful

I have asked so many minimalists for advice on this and I always feel stuck. I prefer to DO a lot of services and jobs on my own therefore I have the materials necessary for those services, which feels like a lot. What would you suggest for DIY Lifestyles? In addition, art education is a large part of my life and I have SO MUCH art materials, suggestions on this as well/.

Ha-ha-ha! So funny! I had the same problem with the hair spray bottle as well. (I have exactly same type of hair spray bottle) - min 14:27. Anyway, problem was solved by sinking the top of the spray bottle, for a few seconds, in a pot with hot water. Planet was saved one more time! :)
