Since the Pateo is so close to the kitchen, you could plant herbs in the pots, so it's close by when you need a little bit of sage, rosemary, or basil!

You could also add a small French Bistro table and chairs in the sunny corner with a larger umbrella attached to the railing, so that the umbrella can be angled to protect from the sun.

As much as I like birdbaths as well, there’s two things to remember before you decide. 1) birds poop 2) standing water breeds mosquitoes

You can also use these geraniums where the leaves smells lemony - to prevent mosquitos and it sends out a lovely smell if you run your fingers through the leaves when you walk by

It’s so pretty. I think a water feature by the lavender pots would be perfect. The sound of the water will be so relaxing while you have a cup of coffee in the morning or just to relax in the evening. 😘 Great family space. 👍

yessss! i love the outdoor makeovers!! you should add a solar fountain in that corner where the sun hits so you can maybe see it from the kitchen ❤❤ be sure to clean out the leaves in the gutters to prevent damage!

Hi, I love your videos. I've watched for years. Living in Australia we are constantly reminded to keep our roof gutters clean. With the LA fires and embers etc. this might be worth looking at. You have a lovely home and garden. ❤

Love the finished product! Couple of suggestions from someone who worked at a nursery for years and designed outdoor areas. Your strawberry planter is great for multiple plants. Works great for impatiens, and begonias. Fill dirt to almost first level of lowest holes. Using bedding size plants that are in cell packs gently insert root size first. Fill with dirt to the next level and continue up. Top plant can be the same species or something different. Gives you fat full color as it grows. Also your sunny corner. Something tall, or maybe a blooming tropical that grows on a skinny trellis for a pop of color. Or green and white. And last but not least plant dogs and a drain pan for the plant on the wicker, to protect all that hard work you’ve done.

I love all the choices you made, the deck stain, the daybed, teak chair, all the wicker, aged terracotta, the striped fabric, green cushions, the rug and the lavender. A few takeaways after reading the comments would be pot feet and drip trays to protect the deck, a bit of maintenance on your gutters to avoid them overflowing and utilising the area for herbs for cooking. The icing on the cake for me personally would be a bit of height with a taller tree or climbing plants and some pretty ambient lighting. Congratulations on another great makeover xxx

In this part of California you don’t need to store anything. You just leave them out all year round. I actually leave my soft outdoor cushions out all year round because we use the patio even when it’s cold winter and we just don’t get very much snow so it’s not a huge issue.

Might want to investigate first. Lots of horror stories, including foundation damage! The companies disappear and don’t honor their promises. At the end most experts recommended cleaning them yourself or hiring out. Much cheaper in the long run.

Nice. A birdbath in the corner with the pots will bring the birds into view. Same with a hummingbird feeder and some soft wind chimes. Cade will love to watch the birds and hear the chimes....🐦🎶

One downside to attracting the birds on the deck is bird droppings. We had a bird nest on our front porch and it was a constant job to keep it clean.

Bird bath might not be a good idea since you have noticed bobcats in your area. They can be attracted to the water during dry seasons and also to prey on the other wildlife the birdbath would attract.

Looks beautiful! I would suggest pot risers to lift the pots all off the deck. Terracotta sweats and will leave round rings on the wood decking. You can get the pot "feet" risers at most garden centers. I got mine at Wal-mart.

Oh my goodness, how incredible! Yall are just gonna love watching Cade run around the yard from that spot and your kitchen window! Word of advice from a fellow container gardener: elevate your pots! they look wonderful just sitting there but not so good when you pick them up and discover a big moldy spot on the wood underneath 😭 you can find some short plant stands that look cute. thanks so much for the video! ❤❤

This video brought back a long forgotten memory from my childhood. When I stayed with my grandmum I was always at her feet while she sewed. When I was napping it was also close by and I would be lulled to a cathartic sleep by the sound of the machine. I have the same reaction to this day.

Hi MaCenna, first, I love you and your family. My only suggestion on the porch redo is that you might consider gutter guards. I noticed quite a lot of leaf buildup and the guards would help with that. Otherwise, whatever you do will be beautiful!!

Macenna, maybe build a railing gate that spans from the post on the corner of your house across the deck to the railing. This would separate the entrance to your private nook and be great as a baby-proof area as the little guy learns to walk.

Longtime sub Macenna!! Georgia gardener here, who also loves planting in terracotta. The terracotta is lovely! But know they'll dry out so fast, especially in that climate. So even the arid plants, like the lavender, may fry, especially with the small pots. So keep an eye out on the water!

Love the front patio makeover so much! If you get a little gate at the end near the front door, the porch would be a fun place for Cade to play, ie have a little trike to ride around etc! And you can relax on the daybed while he is playing! Blessings, Kelly Jacksonville FL

It looks absolutely beautiful, i love the idea of a bird bath ,and great idea to plant the lavender, you can grow pretty much anything in a pot , so you could absolutely grow something up the wall from a large pot, or grow up an obelisk in a pot, jasmine or clematis grow fairly quickly.

Looks awesome! You might want to put your terra cotta pots on plant coasters. They will eventually mark your deck boards you worked so hard on. Many are on casters which also makes for easy movement if you want to move them around.

Your gutters collect so many leaves (saw in photo above house) I recommend installing gutter covers. This is something you and hubby can do.

Yay! So glad you can enjoy your front patio now. The new fabric on the daybed looks fantastic. I never would have thought of putting a daybed outside. Very clever! I think a birdbath would look perfect in the far corner. Maybe even an outdoor sculpture on one of the walls? One thought - would you consider putting the chair at a 45 degree angle at the corner of the rug that it is next to? That way, if someone is in the chair and another person is on the daybed, you can talk to each other without swiveling your heads to the side.

I really like how your deck (patio) came out. Love that you re-covered the cushions yourself. That’s one of my favorite projects to do to customize & change the look of a space. I would recommend building a shallow trelliss/pergola type structure over the kitchen window to train a climbing rose bush on. It would be visually appealing and provide support for the plant. Keep us posted!!
