I had a "comparison is the thief of joy" moment I wanted to share! I saw your dutch oven sitting out on the counter, and I immediately thought of mine that has been sitting out at my home for far too long. I thought "well hers is sitting out because she had used it for cooking; mine is just sitting out because it has a crack in it and I need to figure out the warranty situation, so I'm being lazier..." When you added the commentary about yours being cracked I immediately had a moment where I was reminded of how much grace we sometimes give others but then give none to ourselves. I love seeing the realness of these videos; not being afraid to show the mess and clutter and how you can methodically approach your "progress over perfection". It was what I needed today! ❤

Hi Natalie. Good video. I'll probably do my deep cleaning when I take down the tree etc. Usually, after my Birthday on the 30th, I'll be 74yrs. Our home is pretty good right now. We had the rug clean a few weeks ago & my husband vacuum before & then afterwards. So it's not bad right now. I just need to clean my sewing, scrapbooking room. But I'll do that after the New Year too. Ive been with you since a little before you moved to your new home. You & your family have a very Merry Christmas & wonderful New Year! Love & Hugs! ♥️😊🫂🐾🎄🎁🤶🏻🎅🏻☃️❄️🌟🎉

Natalie, I was so happy to hear you mention using "the good china." I recently purchased a full 5 piece place setting, service for 8 plus 6 serving pieces at thrift shop. It was perfect, in the box, still fully wrapped in protective sleeves with cardboard dividers. The box was written in a very shaky penmanship, "Good China - BASEMENT." This china was someone's "I'll use it when" but it was never used. I purchased it for $25 - Noritake China... and I use it every. single. day. Don't wait for tomorrow... use what you love.

This. We got a set of plates/bowls etc for our wedding present and it was in the cupboard for 4 years “for good” but last year I needed new plates as our was getting chipped and I went..wait we have some. Why keep it in the cupboard where no one sees it. Use it and enjoy it. Did the same with my glasses and mugs too and I’m using the crystal glasses. Yes they may break but at least I can say we used them.

My girls are 16 & 19 and have been in charge of cleaning and decluttering their own rooms for years. But every once in a while I will go in and make their beds and give it a mom clean and you would think I had given them gold…they always notice and appreciate it. It’s like a little treat🥰🥰🥰 Merry Christmas🎄 & see you in the New Year 🥳

My small win today was I went through the first floor of my house which is my bedroom through the living spaces to the kitchen and into the laundry room and I got a bag of trash and 1 medium box of donations!! Feels good to know that amount of things is out of my space.

Tip for laundry. Set a timer on your phone or actual physical timer (that you take with you or set in central place) for the time that the washer / dryer should be done. Once the timer goes off, immediately go to the washer/dry and change loads of laundry. That really helped me get in the rhythm of laundry and not forget it.

Newer machines sometimes have a wifi component and will send a notification to your phone when the load is finished. So helpful! I only dismiss the notification once I've dealt with the load, so I have the reminder there until the job is done.

Hi! Loved the video, as always. My four year old daughter likes to watch cleaning/decluttering videos with me, and when I invited her to join me today she said, "This is my favorite lady!". For a replacement for plastic cups, we use metal ones! We just got them off Amazon, very affordable non breakable option for little ones.

♥ Hi Natalie, thank you for your videos. You're the reason I'm constantly decluttering. The 'gentle motivation' approach resonates with me very well, as sometimes my chronic illness prevents me from doing my daily chores. That 'gentle motivation' more often than not gets the ball rolling and in the end feels very rewarding. Especially when you 'ploughing through the day'. Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱 🤗

I so needed this this morning, feeling overwhelmed by all the clutter in my house. I thought I would wait for the new year but your video motivated me to start today to roll into the NY on the right foot; plus you reminded me that just decluttering a small area will lift my mood and get the ball rolling. Your gentle motivation gave me the inspo today, thanks Natalie!

Natalie, oh I have adhd and constantly forget what I’m doing but one thing that made a huge difference for me in laundry, I would even dare to say it’s life changing is I put my wash in when I’m going to bed and set it to wash 1 hour before I get up. I have trained myself I stop and put it in the dryer on my way to the coffee pot. I don’t dare start another load until bedtime because it will lay in there and rot 😂. I don’t know if you can do that with your machine, just a suggestion. Before I started doing this no joke I would rewash the same load sometimes 10 times and I could never get caught up. Now I never have any laundry in baskets waiting to be washed, putting it up I have no suggestions there. We just dress out of the basket but at least it’s clean.

I’m always in awe of how good you are at cleaning and decluttering with ADHD. I struggle so much. I’m trying to learn that decluttering or even putting laundry away can be done in a spare 20 minutes here and there and don’t need a whole day sectioned out to do it. Saying that one of my biggest issues is I want to be a minimalist but I shop a lot for that sweet dopamine and I have way too much stuff! Urgh.

Your kids might be beyond this, but 7 years ago I bought "Caveman" brand stainless steel plates and bowls for our kids and they have held up wonderfully. Then when they grow out of them, I plan on them becoming camping/picnic supplies. For cups I went with the "better for you" stainless steel double wall cups (all of this is on amazon). They don't have lids, but they're a good size for little hands and I like that they didn't have a rim like a lot of the other stainless steel cups. You can get different colors or numbers written on the side so kids can keep track of which one is theirs. My 4 year old has recently started asking "what color is this?" and reading out the letters to me each morning, it's really cute.

I highly highly recommend Korean metal chopsticks! They're flat on top which makes it easier to hold, they won't ever break, are dishwasher friendly and just overall the best choice. My friend whose husband is Chinese recommended them to me, she said when they buy stuff for their home they'll get most Asian cooking stuff from China but the chopsticks will be from Korea. Give them a try if the glass ones don't turn out to be a good fit!
