I could never be that level of mom but her realness came through and her ability to have honesty with what works and what doesn't system wise and her lovely personality and humor too. So glad her beautiful ascetic didn't throw me off. She is amazing in all the ways. ❤ Keeping life spicy with some peppermint delight in the springtime. 😊

Minimalism is so personal, I started following minimalism channels to help motivate me to declutter, I never saw myself being a minimalist but as I decluttered the excess and got down to bare basics I saw how much easier it was to function daily and I changed my opinion ... I went from decluttering and keeping a few extras for a rainy day to keeping 1 extra, having said that I keep an extended pantry we live in a rural area with 1 grocery store several hours from any larger town with stores, walmart, home depot etc. we have no cinemas, no takeout, pretty much nothing, so we plan our grocery trips around doctors appointments, home projects that we need to go shop at home depot for wood and other supplies and we buy bulk to keep us going for several months until the next planned trip ... Its not very minimal keeping cases of tuna and pineapple and 6 bottles of toilet cleaner etc. but it works for us ...

in fact there is no one way to live it but inspirations from channels can help to sense what we feel to need :) it is to adapt to each one needs and situations :) the goal is to feel more serene for what i feel :) congrats for your journey ;) it is inspiring to read and see other experiences to sense our own needs :) thank you for what you expressed, it helped me to get more understanding on other ways to live depending on other realities as i live in the centre of a small town where i can have easily access to all and no need of cars etc, so i feel the stores are my "storage" spaces :) but if you live far avoiding to do a lot of travels for shopping is a minimal approach to organise the time and optimise each travel :) (i hope to be able to be clear :) still try to improve learn english :) bye bye from France :)

I needed this video so much! My husband and I don't see eye to eye on keeping things minimal in our home and it's caused a good amount of strife between us. Thank you for the reminder that minimalism isn't about an end result and it's not about meeting a certain standard. I'm just doing the best I can with the husband that I have! And our marriage comes first, not minimalism.

My respect for you and your lifestyle grows with every video, Natalie. I've been watching your channel for years now, and although I enjoyed your decluttering videos with your kids in the past, I think it's so great that you've switched the focus to the rest of the house / you in particular. I can tell you value your kids' privacy and personal boundaries, and keep them in the forefront of your decision making in terms of your content. I think that's a wise choice!

I feel like this video was a highly caffeinated 'get-er-done' kinda episode - which I loved! Thank you for showing the REALNESS of how when you're focused on a project (like decluttering) it is normal and okay to let some of the other normal chores get neglected for a little while (like dishes, laundry, counters). This is so refreshing and makes me feel like I am actually way more productive than I think or feel I am.

The financial aspect is so true! We live in the mountains in a tourist town, and over the last year rent has been our luxury item. To the point that we couldn’t afford to even do the things we wanted to do here. So we moved back into our RV for the summer, paying 1/3 the rent we were paying before. We’re paying off debt to get ourselves in a position to buy a house, but in the meantime we’ve been able to actually enjoy a date night with a glass of wine at the bar, or buy the necessary tools we need to do what we love. I loved that big house, and the RV is a downgrade in luxury, but I’m so glad we “decluttered” our $2100 a month rent payment so we can use that money for different things, and ultimately to position ourself for the future. Not to mention, there’s only so much cabinet space in the rig, I cannot buy the amount of stuff that I could in the house - it doesn’t fit!

I love watching you do these!!!! It reinforces that even if I get through my messy to minimal journey, I will still have LOADS of stuff to declutter in the future, because it's a cycle. Seasons change, interests change, style changes, sizes change, things get worn out, duplicates are purchased when something is lost and then you declutter that thing when you find it. It's just good to see that you didn't go through your entire house and only find an empty shampoo bottle and a paper clip to declutter.

So happy to see that it isn't just me that have piles from a decluttering project. You now did something to make the piles go away and no one could tell they were ever there. My decluttering projects almost every time ends up with me getting sick and not being able to finish the project and then instead of finishing it I begin a new one. I think that some sunny dat there will be no more clutter, but it seems to be a neverending story. I have been decluttering for years, and noone can tell that something is missing, and I haven't even got a lot of new things the last few years. I have got rid of a lot of decoration items and such, but since I'm a crafter my craft hoard is still a hoard even though I actually decluttered a lot of craft items also. My hope is that someday it will be a place for everything I have, but moving to a new apartment last year half the size didn't help, and if I keep getting half the size everytime I have to move (renting apartment) I will always have to much things even though I don't think it's to much right now in my kitchen and living room, but I will need to use up some craft items like patterned paper and pearls and ribbon. I think I will need to get rid of something as there's no way I can live long enough to use it all. 😅 I don't have a lot of books anymore, I have 48 books and I will keep them as it's books that I actually use and like to look in. I Also have some old scrap magazines that I keep and often look in to get ideas instead of scrolling on a screen all the time. Looking in magazines is just better, but there will not come new ones as they no longer come out, so it will be the same amount if I don't throw some away some day. I have bought a new cutting machine and I use a lot of my paper to cut out boxes and make cards, so the paper hoard will be smaller, but when I have used 12 papers and still have 3000 left it doesn't show much progress, so I will have to give some away. For now I have restored a lot of paper, but I will have to go through them again and think if I will use them or just have them, and give them away instead of just have them. 😅 I already decluttered my kitchen, but I still want to get rid of some utensils that I never use, but for now they will stay in the drawer until I have decluttered my craft items.

I have a little pile in my wrap/ foil drawer and when they all disapear. I just re fill. If i find them on the floor while cleaning i just toss. We do toss back in the drawer or clip on the pantry wire shelf also.

The past 4-5 years I have used minimalism to declutter 15 years of hardship, bad memories, trauma. But the past year and a half, minimalism became an almost obsession, for lack of a better word. How much can I live without? How small a number can I own. Recently, God has placed the words "tranquility" and "quiet" on my heart. These are now my guiding principles, not minimalism. If I see something in a store and I smile, or I know it will bring me peace, I will get it. If something I own is shouting, or I don't use it, or it doesn't give me a quiet heart or life, out it goes. This mindset is so much better because I'm not living by numbers anymore. I'm living by quiet day to day living.
