The perfume I always try on when out is the Billie Eilish- 1 and 2 2 has quite a strong oud fragrance and 1 is sweeter so they go well together. 1 on one arm and 2 the other . At $110 each I’ll never buy them but I like to try them when out 😊

Those are very expensive where you are, I saw both 100ml plus 10ml travel sprays gift sets here for £25 each and there was also a buy one get one half price at one point too. I really like Eilish no. 2, it's in the same kind of ballpark as SJP Stash which I already own though. 🥰

I think my way of thinking is, if I've not worn it for nearly a year, what is the reason for that and what is going to alter to make me want to wear it in the future? It's taken me a few years to get to being able to let go of older ones though. I hope that 2025 will be a year of very considered purchasing for me 🤞 🥰

I love your approach - if it isn’t loved and worn, move it along to make room for a new discovery or appreciate something that’s already on the shelf even more. Joining you in a good cull for 2025. I also decluttered French Grey, despite loving Amethyst and Rose. The lavender was just too sharp and gave me a headache. Wonderful video, as always! ❤

The Nirvana line is really great, I did try with French Grey but it's sadly not for me, I'll stick to Amethyst. 🥰

I know! Those two were the difficult ones. That Dior I'd worn once in nearly a year, yet when I smelt it, I really liked it. This is the problem of overconsumption. I decluttered L’Imperatrice as well! Loved the opening, but something in the dry down smelt of onions. 😝 I know exactly what you mean about Alien! I wore a lot when it came out, then didn’t own it for years. When I re-purchased it I had no idea how much it had been reformulated! Thank goodness finding a few vintage bottles proved to be easier than I had imagined. I can’t believe how much darker the liquid is! When I wear it, I use to newer formula to spray my clothing with. 😊 Great video Claire! I hope you have no regrets about parting with any of these! Out with the old, in with the new! 🎉

🧅 onions?! 🤣 That doesn't sound good. That's quite a good tip actually about using the formulation on clothes and the old one on skin, so you get the one you love up close. The new one just lost some magic for me. The old one is a wow though! I think even my thoughts on the Dior have faded now. I'm just happy it's being worn, loved and enjoyed again, so yes, no regrets 🥰

When Alien first came out I couldn’t handle its strength. I’m one of the oddballs who enjoys the new formulation. I’m quite excited to try the new Extraintense version. The bottle looks so dark and beautiful.

January is definitely the month for a good declutter. The new Alien just isn’t the same, it’s such a shame that they changed it. The soapiness in the new version isn’t for me. I’m glad you have some of the older formulations 😍💜

It is a shame. The new one is still very definitely Alien but it's not quite right somehow when you've smelt the old one. I'm happy to just enjoy my older bottles. I'm kinda scared to try the new hyperintense or whatever it's called 😂 I will though! 🥰

I struggle with indecision when decluttering, but nonetheless I’ve packed up a shoe box full of mostly dupes & frags I felt would be hard to sell & had my son take it back to university & give to a (female) friend to keep/share - she loved it. I’ve set aside other frags I feel might sell in boxes - but I’m not sure which platform to sell them on. (And have since pulled a couple back, because my nose has changed and I’ve found I like them.) Any advice on selling declutters would be awesome!

My best advice would be to just give lots of detail and to tag the item effectively, buyers want reassurance, so if it's opaque, show the level with a light or weigh the item, detail batch codes and take lots of photos. 🥰

Aww that's lovely! ❤️ Well I think it varies from place to place. In the UK, the place to sell used to be eBa* but right now there are so many changes going on that no one is sure where that's going (lots being implemented on 4th Feb, seemingly designed to benefit business sellers over private sellers) and it already became much harder to sell there. Lots of people switched to vint*d and even faceboo* marketpl*ce for cheaper fragrances. I think for any place you do sell, always get tracked postage. You want to know that you can prove something arrived in case of issues. 🥰

Yes, I think reducing the frequency of buying and testing loads before buying is the way to reduce decluttering. I find the majority of my declutters are blind buys or where I find that the formulation is not what I thought I was buying.

I do keep them! It's half because I sometimes use them as a reference in videos (there is usually a few sprays left) but also because I don't know what to do with them if I don't keep them 😂 I am someone who is very concerned about waste streams and responsible disposal and I know my local council says they only take glass from food and drink, specifically not fragrance or household breakages. The atomiser in them makes fragrance bottles hard to recycle. I did see the Perfume shop was taking them for "recycling" but I need to email them and ask about their waste processing to check out what is done with them. Often when I've asked other companies it's not entirely clear... 🥰

Haha 😅 it's only because I ran out of room 😂 my end terrace is bursting at the seams. To be honest, I still have some left from my last declutter that didn't sell. It's actually become pretty hard to offload now. I'm sure the proposed changes to selling platforms won't help... It's really very fragrance dependent, some people seem to want and then others really stick around! I think I'm trying to be more realistic about how many fragrances I can actually regularly wear. If I'm not reaching for it, it should go but ultimately that doesn't always happen 😂

How many bottles did you add to your collection this year? That, and allotted space--should be the only reason to declutter. If you add 2 fragrances and aren't out of room, there is no rule saying you HAVE to declutter. KZbinrs and Influencers add MANY more fragrances per year than us "normal folks" do. If you didn't add any fragrances, no need to declutter.

It's not that I don't like Alien, it's that I don't like the new version as much as my vintage versions (I have three) so I feel I can happily declutter my newest version of it (which was ironically the bottle that I purchased first 🙃 because at the time, I didn't realise it had been reformulated). The dark muskiness of the vintage formulation is mmm! 🥰

I couldn't deal with the dry soapy coconut. It wasn't for me. Coconut is often done pretty badly in fragrance. It can also go towards smelling like shampoo or hairspray. 🥰

I will probably make a video because I feel like people are interested. I generally recycle packaging. I've never had to buy any. All I've bought is tape. I have usually bought my fragrances secondhand anyway so often they don't come with boxes, but if they do, I always save them. I will discuss it more in a video as there's quite a bit to cover. 🥰

Sensuous Nude is a beachy scent ? Never thought about it this way 😅 to me its a bed-time, fluffy pullover, autumn perfume. As to decluttering - there are a couple i bought because of the hype, really tried to love them but its been years now i have to face the facts, i am not wearing them- Xerjoff Lira & Italica, Tiziana Terenzi Cassiopea & Andromeda , i'll probably declutter them.

Yes I can see it that way too. I guess I felt a solar thing with it and got the coconut soapy feel quite strongly and that made me think of something late summer-beachy. The sandalwood is quite dry and neutral though, I do get how you would think of it as autumnal. I think if you can recoup some cash from stuff you don't love and aren't wanting to wear then decluttering is a good call. Good luck 🥰

Are you maybe thinking of Sensuous, not Sensuous Nude? The original, to me, dries down to a nice and cozy, solar sandalwood. The Nude flanker has a pronounced coconut accord on top of the sandalwood base.

Oh, Belle & Sebastian, I think I still have a CD up on the attick in a box😅 I totally get what you mean with the musky drydown of L'Imperatrice. It used to bother me too, and I decluttered my first bottle. Last spring I missed it and bought a bottle secondhand. Meanwhile my skin chemistry has changed and I do not really really get the musk anymore. I get the juicy bright opening, and it stays that way until it wears off. Such a strange thing.😂

Thanks Em! It's good to reassess occasionally. I need to do this with lots of other areas of my life. 😂 Happy that Solaris found a new home. I guess with the other two the brands aren't as popular or well known and also psychologically people think there's not much left, despite there being quite a lot and many many wears in a 10ml even. I hope you find someone who wants them. 🥰

I decluttered 2 so far this month and they are the only ones that I tried to love but could not: Burberry her and Miami glow. Went to my sister. My collection is 150 + and I love 95% of them. The 4 others that I potentially dislike: raindrops (find it a little synthetic), Goddess intense (gourmand), L'extace absolu (sweet and syrupy), and Burberry weekend. Will target raindrops and goddess intense (a sample!) to finish. Will give the other 2 another chance.

That sounds like you are working through and weeding out the fragrances that aren't true loves. That's really what I'm trying to do, it's taking a lot of time. You sound as if it's pretty successful in terms of your collection though. 👍 Have a fab week 🥰

I am a physician and a nerd. I study everything just like you so I buy only after thorough research but I made lots of blind buys the past year. I tried to expand my olfactory spectrum to include sweeter, heavier, and gourmand perfumes but I gave up eventually. I stick to things that I love now but I still keep getting more backups 😂

Oh, regarding l'imperatrice, I got it 2023 based on KZbin recommendations. I got it on a trip to Egypt and used around 30 ml of the 100 ml that I got during that trip. I cannot say that I love it but it is OK and will always remind me of my trip and I can say that it smells best in hot summer so will keep it as long as I can.

You like what you like and sometimes that doesn't change. I struggle with super sweet and I am particular with gourmand, ironically I often enjoy savoury gourmands. 🤷‍♀️

The only one left standing is Nina Ricci Chant d'extase, but that is perhaps not the most realistic impression of caramel and it's not prominent. There's Chelsea Morning but that's more cinder toffee than caramel. Err, I think it's a no 😂 I always try them but there's nothing that's jumped out as a love. Can you recommend anything?

I think it's the dry soapiness for me with Sensuous Nude. I don't know. It's just not me. I noticed here actually that there are seemingly a few here with similar note profiles. 🤔 I wondered whether that was something to take note of for me. Yes I Am is good for the price that it is I think. I just haven't been wearing it... Interesting you two have a similar experience. 🥰

I’ve recently bought quite a lot of perfumes second hand and one I really didn’t like. It is DKNY Be delicious fresh blossom. I don’t know if the perfume is “off” as I don’t know what it should smell like but this one smells really bad and I’m getting rid of it 😖

I think I tried that years and years ago, that the light pink coloured liquid I think? I don't really remember it. I owned Be Delicious 20 years ago, but I've not owned any of the flankers. I remember my Be Delicious began to turn towards the end of the bottle and I had to race to finish it so I can imagine that it Be Delicious Blossom might also have turned if it was secondhand and quite old. It's not something you can predict unfortunately but sellers should be honest enough to say in listings. 🥰

That's an interesting transition! Were there any trigger fragrances that got you hooked on vanillas then ouds? I find that I really love the warm fuzzy oud and I'm just not so keen on the metallic or medicinal oud, but I guess there are a lot of really badly done synthetic oud accords out there and those are what we mostly smell. I have probably only smelt two or three real ouds in my whole life I'm guessing! It's a wow when it's right! I have been really enjoying Sirène this last month. That has only a very gentle warm fuzziness in the background. 🥰

Sorry, but I am not allowed to send perfume outside of the UK. To send fragrance out of the UK special export licences are required, as it's treated as dangerous goods because it is flammable! There are even restrictions on sending fragrances within the UK 🥰
