This was great! The older I get the more I use finishing powder. I appreciate a blur a lot these days!! If a finishing powder emphasized my pores, I’d kick it to the curb! I have oily skin so I always set with a matte powder, but I love to finish everything off with a blur and gives me a little bit of glow back! I’ve never tried the Prisme Libre powder setting, but when you said it both blurs and gives a glow, my ears perked up. It is now on my radar as a potential replacement for my Laura Mercier talc free ultra blur when I run out! I can always keep a low product count in my powders and be very objective about them. They are just a utilitarian thing for me. But eyeshadow is so much harder for me to objectively evaluate. I think of it on a more artistic way (which sounds grandiose), but the shadows I pick day to day reflect my style choices and mood more than any other makeup aspect besides lipstick. So it’s much more transformative to me on a day to day basis. Eyeshadow is also my favorite part of my routine, probably for those reasons. Eyeshadow declutter is always harder!! I feel for future Stephanie!!!!❤

Blur is the BEST! That Prisme Libre powder has really impressed me. I'll be curious to hear any thoughts you have if you decide to replace your Laura Mercier talc free ultra blur with it when the time comes! I feel similarly about powder. As long as it does its job, I'm happy. But eyeshadow and lipstick and color cosmetics in general.... that's where I like to get creative (in 50 shades of beige, of course 😂). But you're right. Those items feel much more transformative and can do a whole lot to lift my mood if I need it. Thanks for cheering future Stephanie on... she'll need it! 😂❤

Ooooh, what a successful declutter! You must be sooo happy with your powder collection now. It was nice to hear about these as I’ve never tried any of them! It sounds like you really got good use out of each one, too, so you could make your decisions rather easily (as opposed to the previous lipstick declutter episode 😉). I’m excited to see what’s coming up next! Eyeshadow, perhaps?

I am! The more I declutter, the more I feel like a weight is slowly being lifted. Yes... a LOT of lipsticks have been decluttered to me over the years, so my collection grew beyond what I could easily get to know and love. I was always distracted between all the gorgeous things! Having fewer powders meant that I was able to spend more time getting to know each one. And now that half of those are gone, I feel like I have a perfectly customized little collection! Uf... I think eyeshadow will probably be last, only because that's the category that will be most difficult for me. I think I need to strengthen my decluttering muscles a little more before I tackle that! 😂 Or maybe I'll break it down into smaller categories. Then maybe I won't overwhelm my brain with too many decisions at once. 😉 Thanks for hanging out Brittany - I always love hearing your reactions! ❤

You preemptively answered my question about the difference between pressed and loose powders. Thanks for that. I feel like I'm a kindred spirit with regards to large pores on the nose. I don't know if it's just in my own head but besides being really oily, I always feel like my nose looks like a strawberry because of how visible the pores are. I agree on the issue of adding scents to products. I think my nose is becoming more sensitive to smells of late. There I certain things I catch a whiff of and it just lingers forever. And trying to choose between scents because most companies haven't found the sweet spot of detectable but not overpowering. The segment on the packaging of the loose powders reminds me of some of the cartoony things with blue-haired old ladies applying powder with what looks like a Tribble and walking in a constant cloud of powder. 🤣🤣 The swatches of the loose powders come across okay. It's easy to see the differences in the finish and smoothness, the Huda Beauty one definitely retains a powdery look, but some of the color is getting washed out on camera. They actually show up a little better when your arm is down on the table and you're discussing which to keep.
@TheStyleStumbler7 ай бұрын
Fellow strawberry noses unite! I feel the same way about mine. 🤣 Scent is a tricky subject. Sometimes it's nice, sometimes it's horrid, sometimes it's necessary because otherwise the product would stink... I just wish they'd take it out where it's not necessary. It's just one more item of information that my brain has to process and one more chemical that my body has to process. I'm not even into the whole "clean" movement. But I just figure: just put ingredients in that make it work. Anything else just adds to the price and doesn't necessarily improve the experience. That is EXACTLY how applying loose powder is, Zach. We all turn into those ladies with Tribbles in a cloud of powder. 🤣 I'm glad the finishes and smoothness translated somewhat on camera. And I think it's good that the color looked washed out in this instance. Only because that means the colors were accurate. 🤣 Translucent powders like these are solely meant to hold makeup in place and potentially adjust the finish, but not to really be "seen" like color cosmetics. I had to really cake them on to my arm to get them to be visible at all. No one would ever actually wear a thick layer like that. As always, thank you for the feedback Zach! Having a constructively critical eye giving me a second opinion has been so helpful.

@@TheStyleStumbler I 100% agree on scent. It's one of those things in product development where engineering goes too far and needs to be reigned in a bit. I used to notice it with cars a lot where things like side mirrors and tail lights were over-styled. Knowing when to stop is a good thing.
@TheStyleStumbler7 ай бұрын
Yes! It's the same with song production. You have to hit the sweet spot and just learn to leave good enough alone.

@@TheStyleStumblerI use Elf’s HD powder. I use it all over my face. I don’t wear foundation, just some concealer/blush then do the powder with a dry sponge as a last step to keep my shine mostly away. Great detailed review! I'm having my own debate over face powders, specifically pressed for quick on the go touch ups I can throw in my purse w some coverage (asking for a lot) and something else for undereyes that can travel well. Probably of no use to you, but I'm a sharer(ha), the Pat McGrath pressed undereye powder is absolute PERFECTION, but travels like complete garbage. I have (not 20 anymore) dry to very dry skin w sometimes texture (Lupus) and live in MN (if you know you KNOW)...so I'm basically scrolling through all the beauty powder release reviews completely dumbfounded. It's amazing we have so many more choices than just Laura Mercier (have you heard good things about her new one) and Airspun(ha) but does there have to be sooo many? 😅
@TheStyleStumbler7 ай бұрын
I've heard so many good things about that Pat McGrath undereye powder, but I've never tried it because everyone always says it breaks when they travel. That makes it a pointless purchase for me at the moment. Maybe if I settle down someday I can try it out. It really is amazing that we have so many options nowadays! And for so many skin types and purposes. I've heard that the new Laura Mercier one is nice, but not very blurring. But I haven't tried it myself. Maybe someone else will jump into our discussion and enlighten us! ;-) I'm so glad you enjoyed the review! Thanks for taking a moment to leave such a detailed comment. I loved hearing from you!

I love the HG veil & Givenchy in 2, i use them both interchangeably to set my face but i do prefer the Givenchy under the eyes when i have a lighter face of makeup. if i have more medium coverage fuller face il go with Huda under the eyes/ down the center. I really hope they keep the fragrance free ones around because i love the peach but would also like to 're-try' the poundcake shade again when i want something a touch brightening. i heard they are slightly lighter than the OG. I've wondered about O/S for a while because some that love huda switched because it's more blurring, but it does look 'more' to me.
@TheStyleStumbler7 ай бұрын
The O/S is more visible on the skin than the Huda powder. It looks beautiful and blurring, but the skin definitely looks more powdered. The HG veil powder is truly beautiful, too!

@@TheStyleStumbler yep i can imagine. I was curious especially when they came out with minis but never took the plunge.
