Applying Temperature Load in Etabs

Hi I have one technical query Please explain when the temperature load is considered for the RC beam design why there is increase in reinforcement, the amount if steel shown by etabs will be more than that of the bending requirement

temp loads are applied as floor loads. correct me if I'm wrong

I have applied Temperature Load on Roof beams. Doesn't get any deformation. Only get Axial Force. Shear and Bending moment diagrams are showing. But doesn't get value. can anyone share a small ETABS file with proper Temperature Load results. I have gone through youtube videos and pdfs and applied Temperature load accordingly, but, somethig I'm lacking.
