Dress codes are so interesting and exotic to me. Living in Italy, most people usually know how to dress for any occasion and it's just second nature to those of us who were raised here. We don't really "need" dress codes here but in my opinion they can give you a sense of order and control for those who don't necessarily know what to wear in any occasion. Thanks for this series, Lauren! I hope to attend some events with dress code so I can put your advice to good use!!

Totally agree, I live in a SUPER casual beach town where its actually known as a "people dress slobby" kind of place. BUT because I want to go somewhere with my passions/career I always dress up(even though sometimes I get stares because I look a little overdressed, or lets say.....different to everyone else. I always think its better to be overdressed not under dressed. (Although nothing crazy like heels on the beach!)

Constance Goldwing Im from FL. In Sarasota, wedge heels, and even some block heels are cool at upscale beach restaurants! It's also acceptable to take off your shoes and stroll in the sand after eating. If the place has a sandy side entrance, patio seating, and valet, thats what its actually for! 😂

My favorite 👗 code is Formal, because I have LESS trouble deciding upon a 👗 that I enjoy wearing best with a slip underneath it in order to prevent my underpants from being exposed to other people who may or may not have children to supervise at ALL times. In fact, I have a lot of comfortable dresses and special shoes to wear when I go out to fancy restaurants where Formal/Dressy along with Jacket Required are required for dining out like you said. All 3️⃣ casual 👗 codes aren’t my cup of tea, because I have MORE trouble deciding upon an outfit that's comfortable enough for me to wear. Sometimes, I have to wear hairspray in my hair, because the headbands I wear everyday really don't seem to match the color of the tops that I usually wear to an Italian restaurant possibly for the birthdays of loved ones that we're related to as a family or myself, etc. Back when I was a 🧒🏻, I would continuously 👗 up a lot when I went out to dinner with plenty of 👪 members at a private/athletic social club that my dad works out at with his friends. Today, I see plenty of very young children do that a lot until they get into trouble with their parents (e.g. running around the dance floor, walking into a bar without supervision, chasing other kids around the area where everyone sits down and waits before the dining room opens, placing unhygienic hands into the food that's being served at the buffet, etc.) This happened a real long time ago which occurred back in the old days when dining out in person was allowed. PLEASE make it clear that this happened before the COVID-19 outbreak occurred in Spring 2020 which was last year. I got plenty of clothes that I wear for work even though most of my bosses and coworkers don't listen to their fashion instincts (e.g. No Denim Allowed). My mom ordered them online and they fit me just right.👍🏻 if you agree in regards to feeling my pain where there's plenty of pressure due to my fashion options of confusion.

I love your videos so much, you have the right combination of sound advice, humor, and tough love! I was wondering if you'd be able to make a video in which you show us old photos of yourself and critique your style? Talk about what works, what doesn't work. That would be so fun to watch!

I agree with all you said. I learned somethings about weddings. I hate dressing for weddings and glad I don't have many invites. Thank you

You're too funny, but seriously good advice! This is needed, where I'm from some folks don't dress appropriately for specific occasions!

PREACH!!!! I love your channel and your state of mind. I wish more people would get dressed and take all of the opportunities to dress up - dressing for the occasion, as they can!

I'll be honest Lauren: my style taste and yours are COMPLETELY different (based on what I have seen you wear). HOWEVER, I am IN LOVE with that Burberry hat! I've been searching for it online and can't find it, I've never seen a Burberry hat like that and would love one. Any tips on finding your hat or one very similar?

In my experience 'formal' is dressier than 'jacket required' and really formal is either 'black tie' or 'white tie'
