Hi MrCyberdude, sorry for the late reply. The D5162 does have the "steering wheel learn" on the menu but I cant seem to get it to work. Maybe you had better luck? GPS antenna works in the glovebox but I ran it up the rubber lining of the door and used some silicon to glue to the windscreen. It works well and the install looks professional.

Hi Mark, i noticed this too, it seems you have to set both in dependently. One will not change the other.

Hi Carelbagi, In my car the DVD plays while I am driving. I do not recall a pink cable when I was installing but I can tell you the Can Bus does work. Only two issues I found. A. The time on the car is not backward compatible with the unit - you have to set both independently. B. The steering wheel backward and forward button on the steering wheel works but are the wrong way round.

Sorry, I didn't finished... I wouldask you if the plug does fit exactly the original Ford plug, so that I haven't to cut anything. Moreover my car has the premium sound system with one additional speaker on the dashboard and a subwoofer under driver seat, in your opinion will them work with eonon radio? I am more concerned to lose the subwoofer, which gives a special sound to actual radio

Just wondering, what's the Eonon head unit like? I was thinking of just getting a 2DINN head unit, and a front mount and maybe a cage, but this would be a lot easier. What's its performance like? Thanks heaps

hi Duncan, great video, im about to buy one of this unit. and also the reverse cam on their website seems like a pretty good deal. but im just concern about the wiring. do you have any advice about how to connect the wire all the way from the boot to the head unit without making any mess?. also is there anything particularly need to be careful when plug the cables in to the 5162 when install? thanks

I noticed in D5162 model on the advertising page that there is a "steering wheel learn" menu located one button below the "Language" and the "Touch" settings. By the way, where did you mount the GPS antenna unit? I'm hoping it can work under the dash as I cannot imagine that is made of metal.

Hello Duncan Allin! When I buy without map.Can I install a map separately? I thought the map sygic or something else. Does it sound better than the original radio? It is better to order from England or China? What is the difference between a brand Eonon and Erisin? Eonon is better? How much is the duty and VAT on the Radio in England? I am from Slovakia. This is a bit off the subject, but I have a 58 plate zetec mondeo estate and I am not sure of where the gps aerial is. Some say it's in the boot some say it's on the roof. Correct me if I'm wrong but the one on the roof is for the radio is it not? The reason I am asking is because my sat nav has lost it's gps signal and it stopped working just after someone ran into the back of it and I sent it to the garage to get fixed.

Hi Massimiliano, Its a bit hard to say as I dont know what the connection to your car will look like. The Eonon website says the unit for the SMax is for the 2008-2010 - but it does not mention the 2013. Have you asked Eonon? In my car the plug fit 100% (mondeo 2008) - no problems - I did not have to cut anything. I have not used any of the additional plugs, this is for cars with premium sound systems like yours. The unit does have an output for a subwoofer - so I assume it would work.

+Barry Oneill You probably have to unclip the silver plastic parts like I did in the video. You may also have to unscrew the top screws. Goodluck and let me know how it goes.

Hi, yes - it has a can bus which simply plugs in. The Unit I bought came with this.

Thanks Duncan. Simply bought one in aliexpress. unfortunately I can really work out how the steering wheel control work. I have seek advise from the seller and gave me some instruction like rewiring but the problems remains the same. I have also seek advise from the expert and told me that placing a new canbus might guarantee that the steering wheel control work.

Not sure about the speaker in your dash - there are additional outputs for speakers but I dont know how this will link up to your car. 6 months I had never installed a car radio in my life - but I worked it out and everything seems to work fine. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Hi Shuziao, Firstly, you should have no problems plugging in the cables. I do not have the reversing camera but wiring shouldnt be to hard, simply run under the plastic edging along the door along the side of the car. Sorry I could not be more help with this, let me know how you go.

Hi Simon, yes everything works...however...the buttons on the steering wheel that skips your music back and forth between tracks is swapped around. ie, to skip to the next track you press the back button. It doesnt actually bother me that much but I cannot seem to fix this issue. Let me know how you go.

+alan k I bought it from a company called Eonon. They also happen to sell on ebay. From my understanding you need a CANbus to make it work with your steering wheel control. Its a separate device that plugs in underneath your dashboard and should come from the company that sold you the head unit.

Hi A.Carky, Maps: I believe you could install a map separately, no idea how though. Sound quality: I dont think quality is better, but not worse. England vs China - Mine came from China (to Australia) in 4 days. Does it make a difference where it comes from? Erisin vs Eonon: Never heard of Erisin before so I cannot really judge. Import duty: Depends what the tax free threshold is for the country you are importing to. (I didnt pay a cent in import tax and Australia is strict) Good Luck.

Hi Neils, unfortunately i do not have access to a 2003 model. i guess it would not be too difficult. Get  yourself a mojo tool and start that way, gently try and pry your dashboard apart.
