One of the early Beatles era examples of Paul starting to take off melodically and rhythmically with his bass lines.

is it a coincidence that the beatles started smoking weed at this period AND his basslines got more melodic?
@mattpadden5631 Жыл бұрын
Yes - because this song was recorded six months before the band got into cannabis. Take a close listen to Paul's bass part on the official version of Twist And Shout, recorded a full year before You Can't Do That - he was always a melodic bassist, with or without weed.

John's amazing roaring rhythm guitar that fully kick starts the song after George's twelve-string guitar intro never fails to get my blood rushing for this absolute groove of a tune. John rips an amazing roaring solo on this as well, not to mention his vocals. He was on fire

The harmonies on 'greee-eeeen'. One of the greatest Beatles moments. This has to be one of the closest songs to their Hamburg days. Just an incredibly good band sending people wild. Absolutely brilliant track.

Love all of your deconstructions. They are very inspiring. The original mixes of all of the early Beatles are very weak. For the first time we get to hear the bass and drums and they are better than originally credited. Ringo is the first rock drummer and, to his credit, one of the best. Thanks a lot!

@@HOLLYWOODHICK I have seen it numerous times. It's the 2nd half of Lennon's solo. Unfortunately I didn't save it. But it exists.

He didn’t want to be on camera during his solos because he didn’t want people knowing it was him. He was very self conscious about his lead guitar skills.

I just spent an hour searching for a live video of them that shows John playing the solo and couldn’t find one! They always show Paul and George or Ringo during John’s solo!

I consider John's part as lead since he plays the solo.
@gmv200700Күн бұрын
Agree. George is lead guitar and John is rhythm. The fact that solo is played on rhythm guitar does not change that.
