Beautiful Elisa, I love how you swiped over the clear. You got some stunning cells with the rustoleum too. Awesome 😁😁😁👍👍👍👍

Thanks!! I’m so glad I learned from Doris that regular old oil-based paints from Home Depot will work! SO much easier on the pocket book, and lasts forever!

I absolutely love how this turned out!!! I would love to be able to see what you wrote in those turquoise text boxes. Unfortunately with my vision I cannot read the white writing on the light blue boxes. Is there a place that I could get the actual text of this video? Or at least get a copy of what you wrote in those text boxes? Again, thank you for sharing your time and talents with us!

Thank you! ☺ Thanks for watching! Here is the text in the boxes. I hope that helps! 1:03 I am just marking where the tape ends on the back 1:11 Product links below 1:29 Mixing 1 part hardner, 1 part resin (in a pre-marked cup) 1:47 Stir for several minutes, until resin is clear and no wisps remain. 1:54 Sand lightly to smooth surface and remove oils. 2:33 Add just a few drops, the oil-based paint helps create cells when other colors are swiped over it. 3:24 Freezer paper 4:48 I will add a clear layer of heat resistant resin. 4:54 I will then lightly heat the drips and remove the tape. 5:00 Then I will sand any resin from the back, and smooth sharp edges if needed. 5:07 Then apply cutting board oil to both sides, following the directions on the bottle.

Looks beautiful, love the lacing. Is there a reason why you wouldn't use the heat resistant resin for the first coat also.
@JOTZdesigns5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! This is certainly one of my favorites! Thank you for watching!I have a couple of reasons why I didn't use the heat resistant resin for the first layer, but it certainly can be! One reason is I had limited supply, and had a craft fair coming up and wanted to be able to utilize what I did have for as many top coats as possible. The other reason is I personally prefer resins that have a shorter working time; I feel I don't lose as much detail as I do with longer curing resins that will spread more as they cure.

@@JOTZdesigns Thanks for the reply. That's a very good idea re less developing time. Will have to try it like that. Thanks again. From Melbourne, Australia.

Is there a time frame recommended between initial & top coat?
@JOTZdesigns3 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. Kinda depends on your project, and how you’d prefer to do it really. I generally like to wait until it’s cured before I add a clear coat/next layer, and that way I don’t have less chances of somehow messing up that uncured layer accidentally! Plus I tend to pour in the evening, and easier to just let it cure overnight. Helps avoid the temping urges to mess with it, too! 🤣 However, you can pour the next layer before the first one is cured. You just need to wait until it’s set and tacky, but no longer sticky. Usually it’s about 4-6 hours, depending on your resin. (Thinner resins tend to take longer to set/cure) How I tell it’s good to go is by touching the drips on the table (not your art piece!). I’ll use something like a wooden stick and touch it to the resin. If resin comes off with the stick (at all, even just being pulled up), then it’s not set. If it’s tacky, but no resin comes up, then you’re good to pour at any time. The benefit of pouring before it’s cured is that you will not need to clean it to remove any oils (like finger prints) or sand it. Hope that all makes sense and helps!

I’m from Australia and wondering, what the hell is freezer paper? 😝
@JOTZdesigns4 жыл бұрын
It’s a thicker paper with a plastic coating on one side. There’s quite a lot of things you can swipe with, and experimenting is half the fun! 😉 Thanks for watching!
