these are beautiful, definitely going to try this out. My pliers might be a little smaller though lol. or I'm thinking that if you heated the needle over a candle flame it would go through easier sealing the hole to stop it from splitting with usage.

I would be interested to know how well these hold up. I've had store made flip flops break on me, I'd be really concerned about wearing flip flops held together with tape and string.

hello, I tried to make these....however, I had a little bit of trouble. What kind of thread did you use? how did you keep the tape from showing? What did you do to cover up the knot once u were done because I could feel it on to my top of my foot.

Hi Kimberly Robinson.. Here are the answers to your questions. 1. I used Fireline Jewelry Thread- it’s very strong and thin 2. I removed the tape after I sewed the straps together. I used the tape to hold the two straps together while I was sewing. Once the two sides are attached, you can peel away the tape. 3. I would suggest you cover the knot with a band aid or line the inside of the strap by gluing soft fabric or Moleskin (Dr. Scholl's Moleskin) along the inside of the strap. ~Thanks
