To cook squash the easy way, cut it in half top to bottom, take out seeds brush the flesh with oil. Bake in oven, then after it’s cooked and cool, you can easily remove the skin by scooping out the flesh with a spoon. I make my soup with turnip and sweet potato and onion in it as well. I hope you feel better fast. The decorations are really pretty.

The easiest way to use a squash is place on a tray whole and bake. Easy then to cut in half and scoop out the contents. No added oil either so super healthy

Oh good for you ! Canned soup is so bad. And bad for you. Getting a hand on some simple recipes is so satisfying. I was single for a long time and would have so many leftovers I would have to save them in my large ( American ) freezer for months. Good part I had soup when I wanted!

Hi Lorna soup looks great . To keep the cutting board from slipping try putting a damp cloth under it. I’m old and have bad wrists so when it’s a cream soup I cut the squash in half lengthwise and remove the seeds then roast it and when it’s done I just scoop it out. Foxglove looks wonderful as always ❤️

Hi ,the supermarkets do some packs of mixed veg which are designed for making soup ,just ad a bit of stock and some extras to your taste, I use them they are OK, the boat looks good with the decorations🎅

Getting a gas stove heat low enough has been a recurring problem for me over many years of using them. I have managed to find a workaround for my current home stove, but my camp stove is still a challenge.

You can leave the skin on butternut squash if you’re making soup or just lift off the skin after roasting.
