Fascinating reading the comments of ‘you don’t want to do it like this, you want to do it like that…’ or ‘you’ll regret it….’ Life should be a series of experiments, experiences and exploration! A teeny boat and a camper doesn’t have to be forever but it is the choice ‘for now’ and that’s an exciting and creative challenge. Having a nearly 60ft narrowboat to finance and maintain is a big commitment financially and timewise so a great idea to let her go and free up that responsibility. If we all listened to naysayers we would be very dull indeed.

We felt so stagnant in the big boat. And yes the big boat was a responsibility that we no longer wanted or needed as much as we loved her for the time we lived on her. This new path is just a stepping stone for future changes and adventures x 🙂✨

I don’t think that the comments are negative, I think that the people who follow Ben and Emily genuinely care about them and want only the best for them. If some don’t think it’s the wisest decision then it’s fair to air it, that’s not being negative. They may make it work or they may struggle. Either way they aren’t going to listen to anyone else, it’s their decision and time will tell how it pans out.

I've really enjoyed your channel for a while now and, just my own opinion is that I don't think this will work for you guys. Again, it's just my opinion but, I believe you are going to find that you need to have something to call home where you can retreat from the "outside world", so to speak, that has the basic convivences of life. Where a shower, bathroom, kitchen, a space to keep a hobby or to just be somewhat alone... is not something you have to find, setup or make arrangements for every time every day. Now, whether that is brick and mortar, a boat or is on 4 wheels, is up to you. Whatever you guys do, I truly hope you find what makes you happy and content in the one shot we have at this thing we call life. Thanks for sharing your lives with us. Take care and best of luck.

Try creating a fold up desk and possibly using the netting that I previously suggested to stow your equipment and loose items up close to the ceiling on both sides.

you need to make the desk flip up against the window.. and have a slide in box system that can be pulled out from in side bed to make a good size and put away to have a seat and use desk.. GL

Hope you sorted the pump. They can be a pain when they run dry. a solution is often just to open a tap and suck on it! Or you can blow down the tank filler so long as the vent is in its cap just to pressurise it. Another way is to disconnect the output pipe from the pump and run it as this gets water into it. They rarely actually fail beyond repair if they run and don't leak. They always sound rough when empty. So many people buy new pumps when they don't need them.

If you need more storage space try putting some netting along the ceiling off to the sides. And maybe some small containers or even wooden shelves on the walls. Yeah you’re gonna need another bed and that small space is gonna drive you crazy. Try to find yourself a thicker mattress and nice thick fleece coverlet.

I live on an 18 foot sailboat, so I'm with you on the space issues. If I want to use a given unit of space on the boat, e.g. the countertop opposite my berth, then it's almost certain that that space will be already be occupied by something else, meaning that I have to play Tetris with the offending item that is occupying the target space, as well as with several other items to get them to fit somewhere else in the boat that leaves enough room in the target space. But there's something appealing about maximising space efficiency and having no wasted space at all, or junk that one doesn't need, where one lives.

You can always get a solar fridge with freezer. Perfect size for your tiny boat 😊 Ive been looking at them and really like the eco-flow. Just get 2 batteries and keep swaping them out.

bed idea. if desk had base that could lower below bed level and you applied the hinged plywood idea you mentioned but the plywood was the same width as the existing bed. mattress doubled during day hours. Unfold plywood on hinge to cover desk area that is now lowered. place the second mattress on it and voila - double the bed size. An idea anyway. Good luck! She looks super cozy

Idea for bed/dinette/desk, have bench seats along sides, table in the middle that can drop down for the bed, but make it so the table can have 2 positions. Central for eating, and offset over one seat giving more room to sit with instruments.

Loving the updates life is never smooth how boring it would be if it was. When you look back you will say yes we did it that wasnt easy but we did it. This makes you stronger and you know what life throws at you it will get sorted. xx

caravanned here - the biggest downside/ pain in the butt is making the bed every night, and putting it away every morning. Makes flicking the duvet at home seem pathetic! It made me go and buy a fixed bed caravan. There is something definitely better in not having to do that particular chore every night/ day. So good on you for trying it.

Great video and I love watching you both, but this looks like its all swung on its axis and what started as a quest for a simple unfettered lifestyle which was a joy to watch is now incredibly difficult, uncomfortable and not sustainable for longer than a week or so - even just based on basic cleanliness (needing to deal with toilet needs right where you sleep and prep food) safety of yourselves and your belongings, and ..well..the need to get sleep and each being able to maintain a sense of self, not always joined at the hip. I hope you find away through this but it seems like rose coloured glasses no longer shielding the realities of living in two crazy small places for two of you and winter looming. This just looks very hard and overly cramped for two adults who both need to work too.

I do think that pump needs to be primed! Sounds awful because there's no water in it. Get water to the pump and it should work fine! 👌
