Great work! love the butterflies paper very much! a few tips for you and everyone really. I personally like to keep my paper on a flat surface after ripping them. I keep them aligned of each other to keep the pattern of the paper that I ripped so i dont overlap too much when gluing the pieces beside each other. It's nicer and cleaner. Also, add more glue on ur piece of paper and take the other side of your glue brush to flatten the paper from wrinkles a bit. it doesn't stick when you add enough glue. It will help again to make it cleaner as well. 😉

Can you do it with magazines, does the pva need to be watered down for this (if so by how much) also can pva be used as a sealant.
@CraftynotShiftyblog4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can use magazines, it will work in a similar way to the wrapping paper. Water down the PVA with equal parts water. It can be used for sealing but won't be quite as long wearing as a sealant product

I have the smaller version of this ink holder & kept saying I was going to paint it but I think it will now be a decoupage project for myself, my 12yr old son & 8yr old granddaughter, although the 2 of them will probably get bored in 2mins & I’ll end up completing it myself ha.

It's beautiful... But I have a question Can we paste whole sheet rather than tearing up in small pieces.. or tearing up is a technique?
@CraftynotShiftyblog6 жыл бұрын
You could give it a try, I’ve always used the tearing technique. I think it would be difficult unless you had a large flat surface. If you want to preserve parts of the image you can always use the technique I used with the Disney princess paper

If you have a photo copier you could try copying the cards, then use them.
@isabellelabrie019846 жыл бұрын
Sushmita Chatterjee yes you can. trick is to water your thicker pieces of paper in a bowl of water first to make the paper more flexible to work with. gotta be careful not to rub too much after as the paper is also more fragile.

The pink paper you applied looks more like tissue paper than crepe paper which is very textured?

Jacky Macbean Not sure if you are American but remember that items are not always called the same thing in other countries. Just FYI.
@WatermelonPlayzzRoblox-u3i6 жыл бұрын
magnoliasouth, the girl in the video is most definitely not American. Neither am I and I think you’ll find that tissue paper is pretty universal. In England, crape paper is very wrinkly as Jacky expressed. I think she made a valid point actually. I also think it’s pretty funny that you found her comment so offensive that you felt the need to be rude to her. Just FYI! 😝

@ebonybruce64735 жыл бұрын
Ur absolutely right it was tissue paper she was using. crepe paper would have giving a more textured effect of wrinkles. I’m an American tissue paper and crepe paper are so dang on universal the only way u could rebuttal this is if u were trying to offend someone, but that’s us Americans for u so busy trying to be right that u offend somebody who wasn’t being offensive and then wait for 100 years before u fully understand that u were being a jerk. This comment didn’t even call for the negative response

@CraftynotShiftyblog7 жыл бұрын
+Diksha Pathak I've never tried it but I'm sure you could. You might need a stronger top coat if it's say a formica table that gets a lot of use
@areyouavinalaff7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't think formica would take pva glue very well with it being plastic and smooth. might not be so bad if you're going all over the surface of the object so the glue doesn't really have any boundaries, but ideally it would be a good idea to give the formica a good scuffing with 120 grit wet n dry just enough to give something for the glue to get hold of. at least that's what I'd do.

How do you join up tissue paper on a large surface without a join line?
@CraftynotShiftyblog3 жыл бұрын
I make sure that the paper overlaps and that I've torn it by hand rather than cutting it with scissors. This gives a nice finish to the project. If you have images you want to preserve you can layer them on top like I do with the princesses

+Harley Toots I say give it a try on a small surface or even just on an old piece of cardboard. Experiment and see. You might find that it wrinkles a lot like the wrapping paper I used but it might smooth out as it dries. Good luck with your testing!

@CraftynotShiftyblog4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa, great question! You could glue the entire piece down like adding wallpaper but part of the fun of decoupage is the layering of the pieces and the fun effect. It also enables you to not have to worry about the paper tearing or fitting it into all the little nooks and crannies 💞
