LOL.... thank you! he is a 1986 George Hendricks bird carved in Paul Gibson's shop. Pat Vincenti picked him up somewhere and i had to have him! put a weight and leather loop on for a dropper... gunned him everyday this past season when we shot scoter.... thank you! jeff

hollowing and thinning isjust done by eye... at 2:14 you'll see the drill press being used and then just a quick clean up for the foredom tool. i use a poured lead weight which is attached with a brass screw.... 8-9 oz is plenty to have t hem self right. actually could use a tad less but in the rougher water i prefert the heavier. thoughts? comments? questions? thanks, jeff

Couple questions. How thin do you hallow out your birds? With those big birds do you put enough weight in the keel to wright them?

Great looking decoys. Question? What do you use for a bit for the eyes? I carve miniature ducks and birds and can't find a bit with a total length of 2 inches. Do you know where I can get one?

Another awesome video...Great Looking Stuff. You should offer one week courses to teach carving, I would seriously consider coming out. One of the reasons that I don't carve is that I just don't have the skill set and I just don't think this is something I can learn from a book.

Checked out your web site, looks like you have a great set up. Only thing I couldn't find was pricing, is there a price range you could give for your guided hunts? Thanks

sounds like some nice birds your making! and remember the wider you make them the better they will ride.... my opinion. thanks, jeff

OK cool. I was curious because I experiment now and again with making over sized birds. I mostly make herter style foamers until I can get a band saw for wood. I like a bird that rides high for visibility and they dont want to right if the center of gravity is to high. I made 48 Canada goose floaters last year magnum sized. They don't right but if you set em up they are weighted well. They will not tip in the worst weather
