Douglas Glenn Colvin, born on September 18, 1951, and passed away on June 5, 2002, was a famous American musician known as Dee Dee Ramone. He played bass and helped start the punk rock band the Ramones. Dee Dee was the main songwriter and wrote many of their popular songs like "53rd & 3rd," "Chinese Rock," and "Rockaway Beach." One of his songs, "Bonzo Goes To Bitburg" (also called "My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down"), even won an award for the best independent single in 1986. Another album he wrote for, Animal Boy, won the best album award. Throughout the Ramones' career, Dee Dee was their most active lyricist and composer, contributing greatly to their success.
