Exactly 💯! We might have a down year in transition but the 49ers will be competitive. While the window might be closing for older players it won’t be closing on the 49ers franchise. I don’t think that will be an issue. The main issue is having difficulty bringing in a 6th Lombardi trophy after 3 attempts in over a decade with some very good teams.

Not necessarily. The 49ers still have the most cap space in the league. There will be a transition process but it won’t be as bad as you think if the 49ers manage their finances and cap space properly. Obviously Purdy will be a fixed cost baked in and next year might be a down year but I still expect them to be competitive as Brock Purdy progresses. If anything Kyle Shanahan’s offense will always be talented at the run game at worst which will keep the 49ers in games even during a down year and transitional period. At the end of the day while they have their flaws, the 49ers franchise is a well oiled machine. I think they’ll do fine staying competitive.

Nah Key, the whole Trey Lance scenario would have not worked! It wasn't the playbook that was the issue, it was his inability to process the playbook that was given to him quickly, or efficiently enough to be successful in it. Purdy is and was more advanced cerebrally than Trey and we will see that even more when Trey is on his 3rd, or 4th team and still has not found his success. There is a difference between a QB that has the ability (athletic/IQ) to fit into a complex system and a QB that needs a system specifically designed for his game and intellect.
