Hey Dee, I love the Nakuru area. Your grandparents property looks awesome I shall keepnitnon my list of must visits for my next trip there. I think your grandmother would be surprised to know that many people have increased their knowledge of the African continent since her visit in the 90s. In the USA, for the most part, we did not learn much about any great accomplishments or significant historical figures from the continent. But my desire to know more has lead me to pursue an education in and outside of the academic sphere. By the same token, when I arrived in Kenya 3 years ago for the first time, I was just as shocked to find out that few Kenyans were knowledgeable about the Atlantic slave trade or the plight faced by African Americans. When I was told that I was just a "Black American" with no connection to Africa at all, I was devastated to be honest. I have since been adopted by several local families and even received a Maasai name while in the Mara. If we deem it important, I think we have to seek that information and those relevant experiences for ourselves, so that we can close the gaps that systematic racism and colonial practices have intentionally created to keep us separate and ignorant. We have a long way to go and it would be great if we, the Melanation, would embark on the journey together with mutual respect and compassion.

Hello sexy lady! Well I'm African-American. I was born and raised in America. Africans that live here in America do not like African- Americans. Hi Dee , This is true because all we ever saw on TV were poor Africa people that had no clothes, killing each other , and blaming it on all white people so don't dislike us because we didn't know better . As I got older and went to college I learned but I had to take classes that white people didn't take . I found out about great strong people that had it hard but a different way than us but strong people also . God Bless 🙌 🙏 ❤ 💖
