Bottom to top. We began this abandoned mine exploration from the bottommost level of a multilevel mine. Jeff from OTG Exploring (@otgexploring ) and I estimated that we were approximately 600 feet below the surface with five or six levels above us. How did we end up starting on the lowest level of this particular mine? We entered it by making our way through two adjacent mines that amazingly were all connected underground.
This video begins with us facing a large ladder that we immediately climbed to the next highest level where we began exploring endless drifts and large stopes. Along the way we crossed over a pit by using a rickety plank and climbed up into some stopes using dilapidated ladders. We found much fracturing and some stunning collapses that had snapped 12 inch support timbers like they were toothpicks. At one unusual junction in the mine, we were presented with a tunnel going downward and a tunnel going upward. We checked out both! We did manage to find another exit from the mine but were unable to use it because it was barricaded.
Check out Jeff's OTG Exploring channel at @otgexploring . He's got some great videos of abandoned mines going back a few years! Support another fellow abandoned mine explorer by subscribing to Jeff’s channel. I'd appreciate that and so would he. Thank you!
