Too many people are equating having acne - especially blackheads with not washing themselves. I would appreciate a dermatologist explaining why people get acne - blackheads and whiteheads especially.

There are many different types and causes of acne. Most commonly it’s a build up of sebum ( naturally occurring oil in the pores of our body) and dead skin cells that have become trapped in a pore, build up of more oil and skin cells packing in the pore causes irritation and the body sends white blood cells to deal with possible bacteria 🦠 and infection. Blackheads are just whiteheads that have been exposed to oxygen at the opening. Dehydration can cause the plug to harden. Bacteria is trapped and spreads under the skin causing more pores to become infected. So you see it’s has very little to do with washing ones face, or food 🥘 that has been eaten has little cause as well. There are many reasons some people get acne. Everyone’s journey is different. That’s why is fantastic when you can find a committed skin care specialist to help you, painful as it might be. People with acne are suffering and shouldn’t be looked down on especially for something they can’t help. ❤

Love the full video would love to see updates on this patient. May I make a small suggestion, when on his cheeks he has very bad acne with inflammation to the extreme in some areas. Tools are great but those inflammation areas are already very tender and painful use qtips while on the cheeks because even though you are going around them with your tool it still is extremely painful around them as well. Thank you for another great video. ❤

I really like this doctor’s technique. He is gentle with the skin around the blackhead ,he’s not aggressive and traumatizing to all the skin. He keeps it from scaring an areas that doesn’t need to be scarred. You can tell that he really enjoys his work and wants to be good to his patients.

I feel you will find its easier to use a needle to break all the white heads surface then use currete. It will ease the pressure on pimple and not so painful for the patient. The ones he has in the nostril entrance is a very tender spot. Patient maynot experience pain for so long. Pricking whiteheads first you will no doubt see some contents empty out before you move in the finish extraction. Best wishes

I feel for patients like him that have to come in and have your entire face squeezed on and still endure the acne afterwards! It’s a nasty annoying skin disease that needs daily attention in most cases but Thank God nowadays there are 💯% remedies that work along with prescription medications, lots of them. That tool is specific to tasks where you can press against cartilage as a fulcrum. Extremely unprofessional relying so heavily on a single key to fit every lock..!!
