This is how I deep clean my floors old school style that works every time! It’s a pretty simple technique that I learned from a Mennonite household. It’s old school cleaning.

If I was your son...only thing I'd be doing is being at home doing what you tell me to do with no back talk or arguing. I'd do all of the cleaning so you don't have to worry with it! I'd help out in all other areas. My only happiness would be to obey you and make you happy!

I've been dreading getting on my hands and knees but I think it probably is the best way

I agree with you that the old fashioned way of cleaning floors is the best. I do this twice a month. I start with soapy water and a brush, then I wipe it with a clean rag and keep the rag clean by rinsing it with clean water. (The brush helps in cleaning the grout and tough stains on my tile floors)

I use 2 buckets at a time. One is for the hot water and cleaner. The other is for rincing the rag. I don't like wasting cleaner.😊

I used to do this once a week when my kids were little. They’re all grown now and it’s just me and my husband, but we do hand scrub on occasion. 👍🏽

We used to have a cleaning service every two weeks and they would always get down and wipe the floors with a microfiber cloth and a bucket of floor cleaner/hot water. To this day it's what I still do and I don't think it's as hard or tedious as it sounds and the results are so much better. There is something about it a mop just cannot replicate when it comes to getting in corners, and you can get the sideboards while you're at it. I feel like it gets every piece of crumb and dirt better too. I find I usually don't even have to go on my knees I can just squat as do it which feels easy on my body. I understand not everyone is physically able though.

I agree with you that not everyone can do that. But it does get the floor and the side boards (whatever you call it) really good.

I prefer cleanig with hot water most of the time. Cleaners and polishes just builds up on the surface, attracts more dirt and you get more and more build up. I even dust with a damp rag, in between swiffer dusting.

The water from the faucet will kill some bacteria but not all. You might as well boil the water, if that is all you’re using. But you won’t be able to use your hands for it. You can use a little bit off tea tree oil to clean your floor with the hot water. But hot water alone won’t clean the bacteria all away. But I say, do as you please. For it’s your home. Oh I used to get down on my hands and knees with a cloth, but now I just go barefoot and drag a old bathroom towel around with my feet and spray as I go. Save your back!
