Very nicely done! The reason you have oil build up in the intake is your PCV and breather valve are worn and require replacement. That will cut down on oil in the intake.
@glasser28194 жыл бұрын
Nicely done maintenance! While you were in there.... you missed a chance to lube the intermediate gear shaft inside the throttle body. Between the 12V throttle motor and throttle plate gearing there is a (plastic) gear shaft that wears out when kept puposely dry... I used high-temp silicon brake grease on mine to give my unit a long service life like new without any loose free-play.

Thanks for such a detailed and clean dedicated work. I have always wondered on the canister side of the throttle body and how to empty any oil in it. While we think about the throttle body, it is also wise to empty and clean any oil in the area and the canister. It can be a source of dirt for the throttle body.

Thank you and yes, you are right. The crankcase oil steam was burn get through the throttle valve. That's for environmental protection,but will dirty the throttle valve. If the oil steam too much, it will be collected to the container under the suction hose.

Senior Leigh, as always, great video. I noticed that you reset actuator values using Xentry. If one does not have the software does the actuator reset or relearn automatically after driving?
@LeighSr4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. And yes, that will do. Every time you turn on the ignition switch (no ignition), you will hear the throttle valve moving (loudly), that is resetting automatically. In addition, the opening degree of the throttle valve is mainly determined by various signals such as intake sensor, speed, crankshaft position sensor and knock sensor. I use a computer to reset, just to confirm.

Thanks! Great, useful, video. It looks like you already changed the MAF sensor previously (doesn't look like the original Bosch part for this engine) and I imagine that didn't solve the rough idle problem. Just cleaned my MAF and still have rough idling (after the Mercedes mechanics left the intake clip loose), so I'll do the throttle body next and see if that helps.

Senior Leigh, I’m not sure what to do… I cleaned the Air Intake Manifold exactly as you detailed on the same model W212 MB and I immediately was put into “Pre-Safe” mode. I spent a couple hours troubleshooting the issue with no luck, and eventually decided to unplug the front and external batteries. This worked, and my E350 was running great! Yesterday I drove for about 80 miles but on the way home the same thing happened abruptly. I was stuck in “Pre-Safe” mode about 2 miles from my house. So I had to “drive” a few miles back home like that and decided to deal with it in the morning. Now the morning has come, I reset my battery, and to no avail… the engine shuts off after starting! This feels like a massive bill, and I’m quite worried there’s been some greater damage done to the engine. Please help! Note: 79k miles this is the first time Intake had been cleaned.

I consider there would be two potential problems, a sensor connector do not seating properly, or a sensor was covered by some debris. So follow this thread to checking. If you have a diagnosis system can read the error code, that would be easy to find the problem.

Another great video and thanks. I've noticed in your video's that the front timing cover bolt heads are painted blue. Does the engine come from the factory with them like that or have they been renewed after work being done in that area. The reason I ask is that I would like to fit oil check valves and up graded tensioners but I'm not sure if they haven't been done already.
@LeighSr2 жыл бұрын
Thanks and if you wanna ensure there are check valves in your engine, just check the engine number. For M2769, if the engine number is less than 2769xx 30 406603, that does not have the check valves. Input your VIN on www.vindecoderz.com to check the engine number.

@LeighSr4 жыл бұрын
Sure, you can just clean it without reset by a computer, and the ECU will learn the position of the throttle body after you clean it. There are many sensors to help the ECU to determine the right things. I use the Diagnosis to reset is just for double-check. In a quiet place like a garage, when you turn the key to the ON, not ignition, you might hear the sound of throttle turning. That's the ECU makes the throttle learning.
