Oversaturating the headliner can cause the adhesive to fail. You're never supposed to use an extractor. A tornador, steamer, or just light spray and cloth would be much safer

Even a steamer can soften/ weaken the glue so quick bursts only

Well it looks to me that this headliner type is without sponge, just fabric directly glued on to cardboard shell. If that is the case then it's pretty safe, I've done it on couple extreme cases simmilar to this. Actually I'ts not the glue that fails over years but the sponge between fabric and shell.

Ya know.. I personally could never deal with my car being like this - but everyone's so quick to judge someone without knowing the whole story. Yes the car is disgusting, yes it's appalling, but the person is paying for a service. At the end of the day, no one knows why it got the way it did. Maybe it was laziness, but maybe it was mental illness. No one really has any place to judge. Or maybe it was sitting in a yard somewhere, animals got into it, and they decided it was time to fix the car up? Honestly, anything could be the reason for it to be in that state, and it shouldn't reflect on the owner, because if they were living like that, and comfortable doing so, why would they be going to the trouble to fix it now? They would just keep it the same. Is it bad? Definitely. But do we truly know why or how it got like that? No we don't. And until we do, it's not our place to judge the owner of the vehicle. For all we know, someone else owned the car, and the current owner got it for free in as is condition, and was beginning the process to get it back to a good place. We truly just don't know.
