Hey man thanks so much! Hopefully this will help explain a little: Because of the damage inside the car, and the overall degradation of most of the materials, it becomes almost impossible to use something like and interior or multipurpose dressing with any substance to it because damaged interior surfaces don't receive the dressing. Put another way, because that plastic protective barrier is so degraded on most surfaces, the surface that the dressing was designed to cure to is more or less not there. So trying to apply a dressing to SOME surfaces only makes the interior look odd in my opinion with some places looking a bit shiny and protected, while others are matte. So the solution I reached for here was Meguiars quick interior detailer. It's not thick, not a lot of substance, just a sort of way to dust last minute. That being said, it also doesn't create any shine, so it allows me to get a uniform appearance without any odd looking surfaces. Another thing to keep in mind is that I avoid putting any type of dressing on the floor boards because I don't want to risk anything getting even remotely slippery. So this was a case of adjusting my usual best practices to this specific situation. And while its unfortunate in my opinion, this is one of those cases where you really want the final look to be better than it is, but because it wasn't at all kept up with before you got your hands on it, theres only SO MUCH that you can do :/

Hi Luke . I’m a DIY’er who would like your opinion on my wash routine. I started rinseless this passed winter and really like it to avoid scratching and for NY weather. What I am doing now that I would like your advice about is a modified rinseless. 1. I foam then rinse 2. (I mixed ONR in a bucket and also a sprayer ) I pull car in the garage, and start rinseless. 3. I spray each panel with ONR IN my sprayer then wash it with microfiber always using a clean edge or side 4. Using my worx hydroshot I rinse the panel to wash dirt off. 4. Using a fluffy microfiber, I pre-dry, then spray wax and wipe dry with another fluffy microfiber. I would appreciate your opinion. I’ve found that wiping with the ONR microfiber can cause dirt to run down the panel, especially vertical panels.

Hey Kevin, great questions, and heres what I can offer in just a few thoughts: Number one, most detailers who are actually running a profitable business are going to be implementing rinseless washing in some way or another. It's quick, it's easy, and for MOST PEOPLE, with vehicles that are already scratched like crazy, you are not going to be implementing any more scratches than are already there. Secondly, rinseless when done with as much precaution as you are taking is extremely safe, and I wonder how much empirical evidence anyone can actually offer to say that what you are doing is going to scratch ANY more than someone doing something more traditional. That being said, I think the process you listed above is fantastic and you should stick with it, especially if it is helping you move a bit faster

The citrus APC is non caustic so without going into too much detail, it is going to give you a little bit more peace of mind when you use it from a safety aspect

The one listed is the less expensive steamer that I suggest for people who are wanting to get one. The one I use is called the vx 5000 but it’s a $900 steamer and almost always people ask what I suggest that is not so expensive. The one listed is also probably the most popular steamer for detailers

Wilson Auto Detailing that be a good idea I’ve tested some myself for alloy cleaning up to now devils blood is the best I’ve used so far. My interior cleaning I’ve just used a cheap non brand for my interior it has a good smell of citrus and is an all purpose cleaner but my interior is in good shape anyway so just to clean down dust dirt that’s in there and and better smell in the car.

Luke, I haven't seen you do a 'disaster' detail in a long time, so it must have paid well and the expectations low. I was surprised you just didn't use a compressor to blow all the loose debris out and then pressure wash the floor? You still made it interesting with the use of only one APC along with a combo of three pieces of equipment. I'm wondering, since you didn't use any sealant or protective coating, how much better looking and resilient the overall finish would have been? A detail is still a detail when the customer is happy!!!

Yes definitely, there are some drawbacks to it not necessarily cleaning ability but SOMETIMES there are instances of potential damage though I don't really want to get into that right now, and that's why I am loving the renegade citrus all purpose cleaner so much. SO SO effective, and super safe

While you called the seats leather and the floor a rubber mat, that’s what you get from the “work truck” trim level and I’m almost positive both the seats and the floor are vinyl.

Removing the seats takes more time. The client wants to pay the lowest possible price, he is not worried about what he cannot see. Also with all the eletronics in seats today you have to pull the battery as to not explode the air bags. before removing the battery you have to either buy one of those fancy tools to save the customers presets or manually write them down. Taking out the seats is as unnecessary as pulling off each panel and cleaning it. if you are worried about bacteria, run the ozone machine once the car is dry.

Drives me nuts when someone doesn’t hit the door jams and rockers with a pressure washer before doing any interior or exterior. Doing it after interior leaves it blowing dirt back in the clean interior and doing it after exterior leaves it running all over the clean outside
