Music executive, Tommy Mottola stopped by Sway in the Morning on Shade 45 recently during his promotional tour for his new book, Hitmaker: The Man and His Music. During his chat with Sway he opened up about his relationship with Michael Jackson, those explosive comments MJ expressed about him, and his reaction to the King of Pop's passing.
"I was terribly shocked because it happened, but not that it happened." Says Mr. Mottola.

Michael Jackson did not go around calling someone "devilish" for no reason...The accusations were to cause the sales in his music to fall. This therefore caused him to not meet his target sales for the album according to your contract. When contract targets are not being met, that means sanctions and debts. Hence, he had to plan a comeback concert to do 50 shows in a single residency (both as a sanction and to pay over his debts resulting for the accusations). The aim: His Beatles catalogue and his own catalogue that he worked very hard for. Michael did not want to give up either and was forced to do the shows or face legal sanctions for breach of contract, at the expense of his health. All this, as he was approaching the end of his contract deal and looking forward to retire a FREE AGENT. SONY couldn't stand the sound nor the sight of someone owning half of their company while retired and decided to just kill him. Michael was doing something no artist before him ever did and none after him would even dare to do; provided that he was now being the scapegoat to any artist who even thinks about it.

Sony bought CBS in 1988 and Michael merged ATV with Sony in 1988 and the deal was, they gave Michael $100 Million Dollars and half the ownership in Sony. On his Dangerous tour it was CBS who broke the story that Michael was accused of child molestation. It was also CBS, Martin Bashir, who interviewed Michael in 2002 or 2003 I believe, Michael was 44 at the time. And John Branca was also working for Sony behind Michael’s back and Michael fired him. For 21 years Sony plotted against Michael when they could have simply made an agreement, giving Michael the rights to his own music, and bought him out. Instead like Michael said, Tommy wanted to make Sony #1, and they would do ANYTHING for it. And the fact that Sony harnessed Michael’s mother for years until she agreed to sell in I think 2016. Everything points back to Sony and Tommy. Plus Martin Bashir admitted live on air that “they” lied on Michael during his interview with him after he learned Michael had died.

There's information in Mottola's statements that is totally incorrect: Firstly, Invincible's disappointing financial performance was not the catalyst for Jackson's anger at Sony. Instead it was Sony's shady methods of keeping the rights to Jackson's song masters. Because of this, Jackson ended his contract with Sony and in retaliation they chose to skimp on Invincible's marketing. I believe this was the reason why Michael called Mottola devlish. Secondly, what is Mottola talking about when he says that Michael and him had a great relationship after the comments. MJ left Sony, so why would they work on any music together? Still, I don't think there is any conspiracy about Jackson's death. It was gross incompetence on the part of his physician coupled with Michael's depression from the false allegations. Rest in peace MJ, you will be missed!
