Luckily the songs we liked seemed to be the same ones at least. I gave up and went along with it until I noticed that he took his info directly from Wikipedia and was leaving me to do most of the work anyway. Talked to my professor about it, and he was talked to, but then sent me an email saying that he had COVID. Just wanna say, I feel like "Time of Our Lives" is like a song for an end of an era: the club boom. And it's kinda fitting. In the song, Neyo and Pitbull are expressing that they have no money left (obviously they do have tons of money irl), but it's kinda representative of the club boom. It's fizzled out. The money's gone. And that's ok. This song strives in its acceptance that the final curtain is coming for their era of music. Also what's weird is that pretty much after this song, both Neyo and Pitbull fell out of relevance a little. Yeah they might make songs, but they don't really chart anymore. It's sad. Bring em back

They're also just about having The Good Time, with all the same markers of traditional male oriented partying that goes along with it: booze, drugs, dancing, and especially women and sex. Not only that, but even when the lead singer goes after women, they have the option of turning him down (Shot Down In Flames), or they rock him so hard in the bedroom that he doesn't even feel in control of the situation (You Shook Me All Night Long). It's always nice when someone's thoughts on one artist helps me understand my thoughts on another.
