Gen Z's attachment to Pitbull has always been weirdly wholesome to me. Like he got shat on so so much when he came up, and now that the people who grew up with him are adults they're like "you take his name out of your mouth. This man is fun, we like him."

we weren’t listening to music consciously then and he was basically the soundtrack of our childhoods. even i knew he wasn’t great at the time, but my mom always turned his music up when it’d play on the radio, and that meant a lot as a kid. adding that anything pre-2016 feels like the golden era before things got real for gen z.

I think it's because the music landscape changed so drastically. Everything felt more dour as time went on. Pitbull hearkened back to a more carefree time, even if the music quality wasn't always 100% positive.

I genuinely want to know how he went from the surprisingly based (if not incredibly goofy) American War to talking about how the pandemic was orchestrated by the government in order to control people and comparing it to Castro and communism. @@ConvincingPeople From what I can tell, it was probably temporary. @@erikdaniels0n the majority of people don't spend their time forming concrete political principles. some folks like to brand themselves as "free thinkers" and latch onto the opposite of whatever the government/general public says. sometimes they end up being right, like when people were skeptical of why the US was going to war against Iraq (including Mr. 305 himself), while othertimes they end up believing in jewish space lasers and the pandemic being orchestrated by communists or whatever. i doubt pitbull was ever specifically anti-war as much as he is for "sticking it up to the man". also partying

Funny story, I took a history of pop music class in community college and our final project was to do a presentation with a partner on any artist we wanted. He badly wanted to do Pitbull. Luckily the songs we liked seemed to be the same ones at least. I gave up and went along with it until I noticed that he took his info directly from Wikipedia and was leaving me to do most of the work anyway. Talked to my professor about it, and he was talked to, but then sent me an email saying that he had COVID. Glad my professor let me do my original idea, Daft Punk, since even with said partner, Pitbull would've been extremely embarrassing to witness. You put way more effort into this than we ever would've, well done.

Just wanna say, I feel like "Time of Our Lives" is like a song for an end of an era: the club boom. And it's kinda fitting. In the song, Neyo and Pitbull are expressing that they have no money left (obviously they do have tons of money irl), but it's kinda representative of the club boom. It's fizzled out. The money's gone. And that's ok. This song strives in its acceptance that the final curtain is coming for their era of music. Also what's weird is that pretty much after this song, both Neyo and Pitbull fell out of relevance a little. Yeah they might make songs, but they don't really chart anymore. It's sad. Bring em back

"Across the World has B.o.B, which is why it's not called 'Around the World'" HOLY ACTUAL HELL LMAO This video is SO funny to watch as someone who unironically used to be a massive Pitbull fan! Back when I was 10, this dude was my KING and one of three accounts I followed on Facebook

Not gonna lie, I'm from Alaska and Pitbull coming here for a Walmart in Kodiak is probably the most funny and interesting thing that's happened in a long time.... but I'm proud AK is getting some recognition by Mr. Worldwide himself

I'll be real, back when his biggest hits came out, I rolled my eyes at a lot of pop music. Not on principle, because I mostly listend to pop, but I guess I was quite pretentious about music. Nowadays, everything is so rough that hearing these hits is like a breath of life. I just want something bombastic and upbeat to listen to, and these scratch that itch now apparently.

It is strange that pitbull can make me nostalgic for my teenage days. I remember my classmates playing that song non-stop during recess while I sat in the corner suffering from social anxiety. Ah the good times.

As someone who has loved NASCAR and motorsports all his life, love to hear you mention about how he's involved with Trackhouse. Still wild that Ross Chastain, the driver who pulled the viral wall ride to get in the championship race, is apart of said team

Y'know, that whole mini segment on the casual misogyny in Pitbull's music finally helped me understand why I don't care how sleazy AC/DC is. They're also just about having The Good Time, with all the same markers of traditional male oriented partying that goes along with it: booze, drugs, dancing, and especially women and sex. Not only that, but even when the lead singer goes after women, they have the option of turning him down (Shot Down In Flames), or they rock him so hard in the bedroom that he doesn't even feel in control of the situation (You Shook Me All Night Long). It's always nice when someone's thoughts on one artist helps me understand my thoughts on another.

Culo was the first song I had heard from him, using the same riddim beat that Nina Sky's "Move Your Body" used that same year, and I thought it was a fun song. He's really good on The Ying Yang Twins' "Shake," and I agree that he's at his best on the "Time of Your Life" song. I forgot that Pitbull is only in his early forties. He's put out so much and been around for so long that I thought he was way older, but he's only two years older than me.

this is a fun video to watch because I have a superstition that if I play pitbull during a scary or threatening situation nothing bad can happen to me because The Vibes Aren't Right For It so the Good Time coordinator example made complete sense to me- he's like a bard with a spell of Party Time (and Fireball, lol)
