Excellent choice, another fellow 80s new wave/post-punk contemporary to The Cure, who also had an moody/surreal atmospheric sound to them is New Order. I would personally like to see a deep discog dive on them Their history & evolution is interesting. Their sound is also diverse & eclectic. One thing i love about david byrne is his love for brazillian music. The name "Radio Head" for exemple came from a song of the legendary brazillian composer Chico Buarque. And Byrne was the responsable for reviving the career of Tom Zé, one of the most unique composers ever. I know that it would probably never happen but a ddd about Tom Zé would be incredible.

I am absolutely in love with the Talking Heads. I saw David Byrne live in 2019 and spent half of the show in tears. The remaster of Stop Making Sense has been so important for the band. Getting to see it in a theater was spectacular. And the story about David Byrne’s response to the mugging doesn’t surprise me, but it is also one of the funniest stories of something awful happening to someone that I’ve ever heard.

I grew up on Talking Heads. My parents played the concert film Stop Making Sense so much that I’m pretty sure I know all the songs and choreography from memory. In my opinion, David may be the visionary but Tina Weymouth’s bass is the backbone of their sound. Jerry is from my hometown so that always makes me proud. And I love How Music Works. Byrne talks about how technology shapes music more than anything else. The point where you mention that the early work of Talking Heads has this wonderful unpolished sound compared to their later work reminds me a bit of the arc of Hiatus Kaiyote. They even have a charismatic lead vocalist in Nai Palm that did a solo album. I hope they will go as long as they need to and, like Talking Heads, quietly move on. Great video, it made me smile 😊

My dad once casually told me that we were probably related to David Byrne.
