Deep Dive - Ep. 4 1958 Hires Root Beer Baseball Cards - Join Health and Cheer Drink Hires Root Beer

When it comes to the love of our baseball cards collection, we tend to love the look, the feel, maybe even the smell? What I also love about baseball cards is the history behind it all.
Today, we look into the history of one of the greatest Root Beer Brands known, The Hires Root Beer Company. It's interesting to note that even in the late 1800s, Hires were dipping their feet into the trading cards business with non-sport novelty cards. As far as I know, they didn't get into baseball until 1958. Two years later, the family sold the brand to a corporation. There are still a lot of questions with not many answers, but we cherish these cards that we have come to appreciate and enjoy!
So, take a journey with me into this new series and hopefully you'll leave with some curiosity of your own!

Sammy, thanks for taking the time to do this research for your video! I spent my first grade school year in 1958-59 in suburban Philadelphia, so this video is of special interest to me! I have 3 cards from the regular issue and a Stan Lopata test issue card. Nothing to compare with either of your Willie Mays cards! Very interesting and educational! Thanks again!

I generally try to focus on cards that are already in my collection, but if I find a Kahn's card that speaks to me, I'll certainly come back to it.
