BLI is the best HO there is mainly because of smoke and white walls. Just like American Flyer which I collect. I really do like HO an awful lot because of how beautiful it is with all the realistic features nowadays. This is one engine I would love to have until I can have a small layout someday.

Beautiful locomotive, though a bit expensive for me. All in all, I still believe that the Dreyfuss Hudson is the prettiest one out of all the Streamliners!

Dreyfuss Hudson’s are my favorite as well although the Pennsylvania T1, the New York Central Mercury, the Commodore Vanderbilt and the Milwaukee Road Hiawatha’s’s are close contenders. In terms of diesel streamliners my favorite Has to be the pioneer zephyr and the union pacific M10000. Honorable mentions for diesels go to the Santa Fe, super chief and the appearance of the Amtrak genesis in the 1990s with the silver paint scheme with the red white and blue stripes.

Hi there from New Zealand. I've always wondered how they synchronise the puffing smoke. Reason I ask is that I'd like to add a smoke system to my DCC sound loco, just would prefer it to not be random. Is it tied up with the sound, via speaker input. Or a cam lobe, sencer on the drive axle. Any advice or information would be appreciated. Thank you all in advance

It is a decoder output on some decoders and the CV handles puffs.

@@russcole5685 There are two ways in which puffing smoke can be achieved. The traditional one was to use sensors on the drive wheels that send a signal to the decoder which then turns the smoke or the fan of the smoke generator on and off to give the puffs. The one used mostly these days is from the feedback from the motor to the decoder and then the puffing frequency can be increased or decreased by adjusting the CV for the Aux output for the smoke generator fan.

Did you deactivate DC mode (CV29) before you tested this loco? I ask because my Pennsy E6s, which is Paragon4, had runaway issues until I changed CV29 from 38 to 34.

I don't have the ability to test in DC so I didn't change the CV.

@@jlwii2000 If you don't run in DC mode, the you should make sure that DC mode is disabled, as per Tony's Trains. What sometimes causes runaway incidents is when the decoder gets a momentary "glitch" in the signal and thinks that it is in DC mode, sees full track voltage, and so runs away at full speed until it sees the signal again. By disabling DC in CV29 you can help prevent this from happening. All decoders, whether new or factory installed, came with DC mode enabled.

I can only hope that they will make a N scale version of this; it seems almost like there's a conspiracy to stop some nice new NYC hudson streamliners from being made in N scale. The old Con Cor versions simply aren't up to the quality of the 21st century.

I bought 3 Boardway limited Locomotives and 2 never got to operated (N Scale) will not waste my money on them ever again. Rather pay a few dollars more for Kato and know I got great Locomotives.

To make it truely accurate they’d have to make it a hybrid, which as an owner of a Dreyfus, their hybrid Hudson’s are too feather weighted to pull a decent sized passenger train.
