I hope you don’t have a sprinkler system in your house. All that smoke might set it off. Lol😂 I had a Lionel as a kid and it came with a bottle of liquid smoke.

The two cylinders on top of the boiler are air reservoirs for the brakes. I did notice that the exhaust chuff rate was five double chuffs per revolution instead of four. Great review of the new Allegheny

Where can I get the pull test gauge at? My beacon works and my guy was able to set various rates for it also. I now have two DDA40X’s I run one with a SD90Mac facing rearwards which is a kewl consist and the other one the same way in my second home.

Very nice locomotive! But MSRP is $375! $300 at trainland for a fantasy scheme?

Outstanding update! Signed up on Trainworldtv to follow your progress! Congrats on retirement! I still fondly recall mine in 2007. Can't say I miss it, the camaraderie yes, but not some of the rest of it as I'm sure you can relate LOL

Question: Does anyone know if ESU has added Automatic Direction Sounds? Two toots for Forward; one for Stopped; three for Reverse? Nice feature IMHO that Soundtraxx and some others have had for some time. I hope ESU has it now.

There’s a single silhouette in the observation car because in the movie, the one kid who boards sits in there alone until the girl and other kid join him.

its a little fast out the gate, I haven't tinkered with the CVs to see how it operates with dropping the start voltage down a bit.

Shooting from the hip here. But I grew up in reading pa in the 60s to 80s and these are some of the best out-of-the-box reading diesel models I have seen. I dread going to the modeling forums to see this release shredded to smithereens. "End handrail chains sag 1/2" lower than prototype."😂

They could’ve done without the footsteps in my opinion, but opening the door and that whooshing sound I think fit very well with the model. You got to open the side doors in order to get to the engine itself, and priming the engine of course before starting it. I guess it’s all personal preference.

6:07 that is a feedwater heater. Feedwater heaters on steam locomotive preheat the water before it’s pumped into the boiler, which improves the locomotives performance

Got the Paragon 4 F7 A and B both powered in Southern livery, and even at default half volume, i can feel my eardrums vibrating. I had to set the CV(CV 137 for just diesel volume) to 20 to match the default of my Athearn Genesis Tsunami 2 locomotives.

the only thing complaints that i have is the chuffing is not really accurate to me and the way the valve gear moves. Its looks like walschaerts valve gear and not baker valve gear. It doesn't like the real walschaerts on a actual steam locomotive

Hello, Great review on this little monster. Because of you, now I know there is a new Rivarossi Allegheny batch coming out. The price seems in the range of BLI , but without the dynamic smoke and with the sounds not so crisp and clearer as BLI or Trix Challenger / Bigboy ( maybe poor or small speaker ?? ) ( to me, it seems the sound is muffled and quite strange.... ) PS: I know you only review US H0 range , but try and listen also and Roco Henning sound on Zimo sound decoders from the continental BR 85 or BR 95 :-) ...together with the aformentioned sound from the Trix Challenger, that is what I am meaning .... )
