Thank God the layout is "entirely" HO. Nothing ruins the illusion of model railroading more than when a layout suddenly shifts to G scale.

Hey man! I commented this on one of your newer videos but im commenting on the video I was interested in. This might be a weird question but I’ve been looking all over for this locomotive everywhere recently and cannot find it. Is there any way you would be willing to sell it?

Kind of odd that the brake chains are black on one side and rust color on the other side.

James great review as always, I bought 4of these beautiful Sd60s in The NYSW Susqehanna roadname. The decoder all 4 are ESU which I do not like at all for so many reasons. I wish mine had the Soundtraxx decoder. Which Soundtraxx decoder is it Blunami, Econaumi Tsunami2 decoders? The Soundtraxx CSX sounds so much better. Thanks for sharing the great review for this very impressive locomotive.

Hey man! This might be a weird question, and also 6 years too late but I’m going to ask anyway. 6 years ago you made a video reviewing the BLI paragon 3 ATSF 4-8-4 Northern 3751. I’ve been looking all over for that loco lately and I can’t find it. (If you still have it) is there any way you would be willing to sell it? I just sold a nice engine and I have the money to pay top dollar for it. Thank you so much.

WOW ! That price is totally outrageous and completely unacceptable . I can't believe anyone could be or would be stupid enough to pay that kind of money for a model train . I should as hell would never pay that .

Would've like you gone through the whistle selection...wanted to hear there optional whistles on it.....never cared for that default whistle...which is not the correct prr3 3 chime whistle....I did buy a new never been run 2 run Q2 prototype love the default whistle on it ...but now wanted to buy this third run since it got lights in the brakemen house in the tender. Plus the capacitor that if it hits a bad spot on the track it won't die feature....oh forgot the smoke unit switch location..is it behind the front boiler front like the first two runs or is it under the cab..

Ill admit in real life ES44s have my favorite throttling sound. But in model form ESU really knows how to make those 7FDL GE's sound absolutely amazing. Both have a good idle sound in real life too

3:04 The magnetic white stencils covering the commodity is a funny detail. For rivet counters, you're going to have to scrape off the white stencil and re-decal it with the commodity info if you want to model the car loaded. That blank white rectangle covering the commodity info represents a clean car, likely post-shopping with a nitrogen pad inside that hasn't been loaded yet! Most people wouldn't notice to be honest, but for the prototype sticklers that's something to keep in mind. Edit: Somebody else pointed out the car looks "as built" and double checking the footage, you can see a build date stencil to 2014. So that is literally a brand new car that rolled out of the factory and hasn't made it to the loading rack yet!

Is it just me, or is the link between the tender and the locomotive way out of proportion? In real life, you'd need a safety fence, or someone could fall out the back of the engine cab. The huffing doesn't sync with the smoke bursts, and the movement is very jerky at low speed. Are they using three, five, or seven pole motor(s)? With that Jerky motion, I'd be guessing at three. For $2000 US, I'd expect at least a seven pole so you could "CREEP" the motion at slow speed . They have fancy "star" emblems on the wheels of the rear bogies or trucks, as you call them, while the front trucks look like an afterthought. To take whatever that wooden device was off the front of the loco, turn the whole thing upside down into the Styrofoam packing and unscrew the blocks and install the truck. Otherwise, it's quite an impressive model. Personally, I'd prefer a Beyer Garrat 50 class model, but that's just what I was raised on, not American railways.

I bought 2 of these units. Based on my experience, I will not buy Rapido again. Although the locomotive is mechanically sound, the sound functions were a joke - literally. When I ran the functional checkout, I found many of the sound files were cartoon sounds and non-sensenical songs. After a few calls to customer service, they sent me a sound file without the nonsense. The technician basically came out and said it was the programmer's sense of humor. Even the replacement file didn't work well for other reasons. I eventually downloaded a properly working file from the ESU website. These little babies are expensive, and it is a ridiculous prospect to pay for the manufacturer's practical jokes. Throygh conversations with hobby shop owners, I learned this isn't the only product with this quirk. The Canadian Goose plays "Oh Canada". I wish I was aware before I made this purchase.
