Minho is known for being super competitive, mainly because he grew up with an elder brother who is much of an achiever as him. His father was a professional soccer play and is now a coach. Minho is legendary is sports. That man can do almost all sports but he excels in soccer, basketball, and now is obsessed with golf. But that competitiveness is balanced by the fact that he is such a sweetheart. He is called a hyung collector because he has loads of friends most of whom are older than him. He is also great with noonas, he is in a group of friends with Boa and is many consider as the fave boy of girls generation members. He totally becomes a baby when he is with them.

Shinee members are pretty crazy esp when they are together. Loud and chaotic, literally them. Minho's Chase Mv and dance practice please😆

I think the taemin being called tonedeaf thing is partially a myth cause really, I mean he wasn't super crazy amazing at singing when he started but he was not bad, he was also going through puberty around that time so his voice was bound to be a bit awkward transitioning. Minho really is such a darling and so fun too! I can't wait for you to go through their most recent solo stuff since onew, minho, and key actually did some new albums not listed in this guide (because they came after it was made). For onew it was "Circle" for minho it was "Chase" and for key it was "Gasoline". Or check out their recent full group album "Hard"! it's got great variety.

Taemin told the story: He said back when he was a trainee, his friends teased him, calling him 'tone deaf' and told him to just focus on dancing. I think people have blown that story up, making it like his teachers or fans or whoever called him that, rather than it just being his friends doing it as a joke.

Because he was so young, Taemin's vocal cords had not yet matured. Therefore, SM didn't want to give him singing parts to protect his future vocal abilities. When it came time for him to start singing, he had trouble staying on key and his natural vibrato was too strong. A vocal coach is the one who told Taemin to give up; he would never be a singer. This lit an inferno under our work crazy maknae. He immediately started practicing on his own -- day and night -- to the point where he would get nosebleeds from the stress and fall asleep during regular practice. Jonghyun and Onew stepped up and tutored him in singing. This is why it was Taemin's hard work and help from his brothers that got him where he is and why we can still hear whispers of Jonghyun's voice in Taemin's falsetto. Despite his absolutely gorgeous voice today, he still enlists other vocal coaches to further his singing abilities. In the fantastic mini-doc, "The Artist: Taemin" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2PCfol4rdKXr8U ), one songwriter stated that Taemin always shows advancements in his singing abilities with each and every comeback. Taemin is not one to sit on his laurels. He wants to continually improve and show new sides of himself and his art. Taemin also really takes advantage of any concept that will enhance his performances. Being only 14 when he debuted, he was constantly called cute, baby, and pretty. This "pretty" label has stuck with him and had just about every variety show wanting to dress him up as a girl. Taemin HATED THIS. He was constantly stressing he was a MAN. He ideal was to be very manly like Minho. However, his body type does not lend itself to that physique. The stress for him got so bad that Jonghyun got fed up and wrote a song for Taemin called, "Pretty Boy". They lyrics stress that Taemin is more than just everyone's imagination. You may have noticed that SHINee is one of the only groups to have mixed-gender backup dancers. This was highly unusual within Kpop where there are stereotypical gender roles. With "Move" Taemin made it clear that, as he said in an interview, dance is a verb not a gender. That was the point of the choreo, that dancing styles are applicable to all. As you can now see, despite not winning any award shows, "Move" became an instant hit. It effectively demolished the standard Korean cultural norms. This is when Taemin came to realize that he can be both masculine and "pretty" at the same time. Because of his build and refined features, the androgynous look suited him and enhanced his art. Now he capitalizes on that; it's unique. He also advises younger artists to also find something unique about themselves and capitalize on those qualities as well, just as he told Ten of Wavy & SuperM regarding his voice (as seen in "The Artist: Taemin). Taemin has said he doesn't want to be just an "idol". He wants to be more and be remembered and leave a legacy. Lastly, Taemin's entire 2-part album, "Never Gonna Dance Again" is a look into Taemin's psyche regarding the history of his idol journey from 14 till now. He chose the producer for the title track MVs (unheard of in Kpop) and acted as co-director/co-producer to ensure the vision he had in his head was translated to the MVs. The entire album details his personal struggles regarding his duality, celebrity vs. noncelebrity, the struggle to remain true to his Christian morals vs. the temptations of fame, all wrapped up into 18 songs full of allusions, metaphors, and symbolism that reveal who he is inside. It truly is a masterpiece of an album. To know Taemin is to listen to his music and decipher the layered messages within it.
