For the RAS sticklers... Randall Cobb had a RAS score of 3.65 and he was a productive slot receiver.

It's kind of fascinating how the gutekunst era has conditioned packers fans into believing high ras = good player. I believe it makes it easier but we've seen gute blow high ras picks that are out of the league a year or two into their careers.
@liquidpza
@liquidpza Жыл бұрын
@@lukegavin124 By my math, that list includes a total of two players selected by Gutekunst in the first four rounds of any draft, which were Josh Jackson in the 2nd and J'Mon Moore in the 4th. We certainly can't blame the Jackson pick on pure RAS extrapolation, as he was the epitome of a ballhawk at Iowa, so ball production was a key factor there. J'Mon was a pure swing and a miss, but he also had solid college production at Missouri, so again not a pure projection based off of athleticism. Musgrave is the perfect prototype for a RAS projection pick, so we'll see how that works out.

@jaketiff
@jaketiff Жыл бұрын
@@kylemtc2280 The combine results are likely very accurate, but sometimes a player doesn't run to their full potential at the combine. Hand timed results at a pro day should obviously be treated with a grain of salt but it's an interesting data point nonetheless.

@aaiirssjoy Жыл бұрын
And no, Musgrave will be really good by year 2/3. The only weakness to his game really is his YAC and he can still learn to improve that by letting the game slow down and becoming more creative as he sees he doesn’t have to just only run from guys but put a move on. He’s gonna see how it’s done - he just needs more reps

@aaiirssjoy Жыл бұрын
@@bzeefs3 I think it’s a matter of a guy becoming comfortable as an actual target rather than an afterthought which Oregon State had been doing with Musgrave until his last 2 games. If he gets comfortable in that role, he could end up adding to his skill set for after the catch… if someone hardly gets the ball then how could they. He’s fluid for a TE too so it is feasible.

Bird is going to be a problem in the NFL ...for him to be 5’10 ? He has a Steve Smith to his game ... very aggressive player ... isn’t scared to go get the ball .. body position is great ... very shifty ... and he’s a ball tracker to the T . @Jonathan Anderson 🤨 No. You are flat out wrong. Maybe you are confused because Jones usually has to work through an oline. There is a reason Jones posted a better 10 yard split. Jones' burst is why he is such a top tier RB.

I highly doubt Packers draft players because of high RAS. They draft players that are athletic and athletic players usually have high scores. In Reed’s case, he didn’t participate in the agility drills which probably would have pushed his score up over 8. There are a couple players the Packers drafted this year that didn’t have high scores for one reason or another, but when you see them on tape, you can easily see how athletic they are. Players can have a bad combine, because of illness, injury or just not participating in certain drills, but smart teams will not draft based on a workout. Don’t let the scores fool you, the Packers are drafting players they see as extremely athletic. High workout numbers or not.
