He’s got that 39 inch vertical (+4.5 speed) and amazing broad jump too. Just an explosive powerful athlete. Corners are going to feel his presence. He might end up becoming WR1 with all the traits he’s exhibiting or if not a phenomenal WR2 if Watson continues to take steps forward. He has better upside than Doubs and I’d argue Reed too since he’s not as tight hipped in those sharp cuts. Don’t get me wrong, I love all our guys but it really looks like Wicks could be THAT good. I’m betting him and Watson hold onto the #1/2 roles and we have quality changes of pace with the other guys for the middle of games or when it gets tough mid season to keep guys healthy for playoffs. If Watson can stay healthy, we are GOLDEN on offense. If Watson can be GB’s own version of a healthy Will Fuller, we will be stellar. Gotta love those deep throw bombs that make the stadium light up. Lack of high end speed isn't a necessity in good WR play-case-in-point Devonte Adams. However, lack of high end speed does make a difference once the ball is caught-case-in-point Devonte Adams. The last years when Adams was in GB it was always great to see his release at the line and intelligent route running it was also painful to see him catch the long ball but not be able to run away from the defender. So, there is something to speed but more in football intelligence. It always seemed that Adams needed a second speed guy to compliment him and it showed when GB missed MVS. Now the Packers have an even better MVS in Watson so an intelligent route runner as a compliment would be great. Looks like Watson will also be an excellent route runner as well as blocker so the Packers are looking really good at WR now-potentially the best I have every seen watching the Packers.

I can’t find it rn, but I believe he did say he pulled something in his hip in the last leg of the 40. He was on pace for high 4.4’s or low 4.5.

I think teams got lazy and just looked at his misleading combine time of 4.6 and his lower production in 2022 (which he was impacted by a change of offensive scheme that he said made him overthink while playing). You look at his 2021 tape and it looks amazing. GB came away with yet another steal by doing their due diligence and taking a closer look at Wicks. I actually like his route creativity better than Reed and with that vertical + 4.5 speed, he’s going to take some deep throws and fades the distance. Let Reed hold the slot but put this man in and out for Doubs or for 4 WR sets. He’s gonna be great. Home run pick.

Watching his highlights tape, I was concerned with how late Armstrong's throws were, setting up a ton of ferocious hits that Wicks took in the secondary. Could that have carried over into his senior year? I've never seen a guy take so many scary hits...

Wicks will be active on game day... the Packers will have the youngest WR corp in the NFL this coming season. Three 2nd years Wide outs and three rookies...

Regarding his 40 time I heard somewhere that he had a hip injury which limited his top end because his performance is strange to have an elite 10, average 20 and poor 40. To me looks like a player battling with injury and having the adrenaline to get that burst but not sustain.

He pulled his hip flexor during the 40 yard dash at the combine. He ran a 4.52 at his pro day.

I'd rather have really good hands that catch anything than blinding speed that drop the ball. Fast is nice but reliability is better

Andy, I’ve heard the term stacking corners quite a bit going back to watching Christian Watson analysis. Can you explain what that means please?

Sean, I'm not Andy, but in simple terms 'stacking' refers to when the receiver gets behind the corner and blocks him from being able to contest the catch.

@@Python_Bacon I know some people think the drafting of Clifford was a joke, but the reality is there’s a decent chance he’s playing snaps in the regular season

@@Python_Bacon I would think given the draft spot used and the fact etling has been bounced around 10 rosters in 5 seasons means Clifford is QB2. There’s no risk in sending etling to your practice squad. They could also still bring in a nick foles type
