This is a freezer that I replaced an r600 compressor. With an r134a compressor. This is just an experiment that actually worked. Enjoy and if you have any questions. Please subscribe and post your comments. Thank you!

Nice work. I got the exact same chest freezer and its not running. Gonna troubleshoot it and if its a compressor ill flush it and try the r134 conversion like you did.

A very helpful tip is to add 50ml of sulphuric acid to the compressor before regassing. This improves the life of the compressor.

Thank you for the information. Can you post a link to where I can find it?

😮😅..that advice sounds like a bad troll..in hvac systems lines are typically flown during brazing/soldering with nitrogen to prevent acidic residuals on the inside of the piping..acidity would eventually go into compressor with the refrigerant/oil flow where the motor winding insulations may start to dissolve into oil and shorten the compressor life substantially.. So maybe you shouldn't try that..that's also the reason to use phorphorous-copper (i'm not from english speaking country so i don't know the correct name for these sticks..) sticks without flux when joining copper to copper to avoid acidity in the flux ending up into circulation.. These freezers/fridges are typically soldered without nitrogen due to single service port (more difficult to set up the small flow) and small piping (not that much residual vs amount of oil)..and also there is steel to copper and aluminium to copper joins so diffrent sticks needed as well.. but anyway.. i wouldn't add insult (sulfuric acid) into injury (residuals from brazing)..😅 ..but let's say; i also understand the troller..i also see so much 'instruction' videos here that i see are either awful for the equipment or to atmosphere or for safety (refrigerants are also poisonous and can have long term health effects).. eg. i can't understand how anyone can buy r134a, r410a, etc. extremely high gwp gases even today without proper licensed skills and eg. just refill the leaking products without any effort to localize the leak, and so on.. we need new children and we need our earth for them so very hard to understand the attitude of skipping the harder parts of getting proper knowledge, skill and tools for the job that requires them..😢

Here there's no EPA. so we all let the gas free. No worries

I see you didn't pressure test the system with nitrogen and check for leaks before you pulled a vacuum? but good job I subscribed.

How did you size the replacement compressor?
@appliancerepairdiytv35362 ай бұрын
I just picked one that was a similar size I had in stock.

If you fill the pipe with water before brazing it will be easier to braze
@appliancerepairdiytv35366 ай бұрын
Not possible you can’t introduce water to a sealed system. It will ruin the compressor and other components.

Well took all the other gas out and changed the compressor so I dont see the problem.
