@benireges it usually always needs to freeze otherwise it's just a ball of mush and almost completely liquid, or it'll just melt into the oil. I suppose you could do it without freezing it first if it was really hard already. I just think freezing it is the best way to go, just to be safe.

A deep fried Flour Tortilla shaped into a bowl & sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar is a great way to serve fried ice cream. It collects all the melted ice cream and bits of corn flakes....YUM 🎉 So awesome you posted this❣️❣️

it still kinda exists in some restaurants in brisbane but can’t be the well-known restaurants. they’re rare but i’ve found a few woth deep-fried ice cream and i aksed my mum about it and she said she’d make it for me one day. tho a year or two later still haven’t gotten it😅

It's the only dish I miss from Chi-Chi's. Theirs was cinnamon ice cream I think, and it was drizzled with chocolate. Another version is a "Snowball" with the ice cream ball rolled in coconut when it comes out.

I love this but to make it better make a cinnamon plate and put the fried ice cream on top and use the plate as a chip and the ice cream as a dip this is how a restaurant in sacramento california does it , and if yall want to check it out and in the area or in arizona try it amazing place its called GARCIAS and there fried ice cream is 1000x better than this they make it the way you should it and should be the only way to eat it IMO= In My Opinion

You have to freeze the ball of ice cream after you roll it in the corn flakes and let it get rock hard and then flash fry it really hot so its not in there for long. Otherwise it will do just that, and melt all in your oil.

When I got one at a fair I needed to wait about 15 mins after it was served to me just to it would be soft enough for me to eat. They had it deep frozen so hard. Delicious but a very frustrating experience.

Chi Chi's Mexican recipe use to sell these. I loved making them. But you need the fried flour tortillas so it can sit in the middle, then you hit it with the whip cream. But you gotta freeze the ice cream balls FIRST!
