OMG THAT is what that was! My parents used to take us to this Chinese restaurant in LA (my favorite) and for dessert they would bring out orange wedges and sweet potato tanghulud. It was such a treat that I can only get very rarely, but now I can make them at home. OMG you don't know how excited I am about this. THANK YOU for this, I am getting emotional and I know that's silly over sweet potato tangulud but it is so very sentimental to me.

The mini bananas are called “Orito”and you have to wait until it turns yellow otherwise you will have to cook/fry it. That’s maybe why it tasted so bad. KIDS!🧑 I have some EASY INSTRUCTIONS HERE! for the tunhulu! it looks very long and complicated and confusing, but that is just because I make sure that you know EXCTLY what to do! so it's not confusing at all! you can ask your parents to read it as well! just take it slowly, one step at a time. here's all you need to know when you are reading my instructions (instructions are like a page out of a book, that tell you how to do things! like when a teacher tells you how to do your work! when i say "ya" i mean "you" make sure you do the thing at the top first, and the thing at the bottem last, go in order. representing means something that means something else, or is supposed to be something else. that's confusing, so here is an example of representing: that light there REPRESENTS that glass, if the glass is empty, the light will go off. step 5 tells you what to do if you touch something that hurts! like if something burns you. the stove can burn, and the sauce, (the sauce is the water and sugar) and anything that touches the sauce can burn too. the sauce will only burn once you turn the stove on. the sauce is made in step 1, and it is just the sugar and water that you put into the pot or pan. make sure you put enough sauce in! step 7 is confusing! you should ask your parents about that part, but for those smarter, older kids (8 or older) who are good at reading and maths, here is some better instructions! just put the stick (thermometer) in the sauce, keep it there for a while until there is a number on it, or the numbers on it have mostly stopped moving. if it says something BELOW the numbers you want, leave the sauce for a little bit longer, and check again. if it says something ABOVE what you want, turn the stove off, and keep checking every 30 seconds until it's at the place you want. and finally, if something doesnt make sense, ask your parents, or do what would make sense (not things like the temperature, or the mounts of anyhting, but stuff that could be a mistake, like if i said "sove" instead of "stove", then just go with "stove" because that makes more sense. and remember to read slowly! and take it one step at a time! (and you may need your parents) step 1: get amount of water. can be one cup, can be two tablespoons, can be one or two ANYTHING. then put twice those things (like two cups, or four tablespoons) of sugar in. make sure you have enough to dip fruit in, so maybe not two tablespoons, a cup or two would be better. step 2: put on the stove (the top of the oven) then turn ONE of the knobs/things that change the temperature onto the middle number. if ya have 6 settings, turn it to 3, if you have 9 settings, turn it to 5, and if you can't see numbers, just put it halway make absolute sure you turned the right stove on, it should light up. either the stove itself, or a light representing (or nearby) the stove you want to cook on step 3: then, put the pan/pot with the sauce (the sugar and water) onto the stove (again, make sure its the right one!) then set a timer for about 2 minutes (you can ask google e, Siri, or Alexa to do this) now, look into the pan/pot. is the sugar FULLY gone? is it a light brown? does it look like it is fully liquid? if you just said no 3 times, then just do this step again! set a timer for 2 minutes again! step 4: if you said yes to all three of those, get a spoon that you have seen your parents cook with before, like a big wooden spoon, or a long metal one, and maybe DONT use your parents favourite wooden spoon, because the sugar-sauce might go into it like it's a sponge! the spoon won't break, but it might look different. then, with the spoon, stir slowly and carefully, swirling it around, and around. step 5: and remember. if this touches you. it will hurt. ALOT. trust me, it will be super painful! it will burn! if you do touch it, even if you don't feel anything, it can still burn you, because burns sometimes take a while to hurt. like sunburn! one time i touched something hot, and only the next day it hurt! step6: the MOST IMPORTANT THING, the thing you ALWAYS must do if you touch this AT ALL, is put the part that got burnt in the sink (or shower if you cant get it in the sink) and run cold water over it. this means just turning on the water, and letting it go over your burnt part. remember that it has to be cold, but don't make it TOO cold, otherwise you get burnt the other way! like a freezing burn! (and no need to get fully undressed for the shower, if it's on the top part of your body, take off tour shirt, and if its on the bottom part of your body, take of that bit) step 7: keep checking the temperature (thats how hot it is) by dipping your heat-stick (or thermometer) in. if you live in America/USA/texas/florida/ohio/anywhere around there, and the thermometer says 300 when you dip it in, then it's done. if you don't live in America, and it says 150 then its done. now turn the temperature down, either onto the lowest, or second lowest setting if you stared with medium heat. when it's done, leave it alone, and quickly go get a bowl that you KNOW can have hot things in it, like one that you would use for dinner. take ice out of the freezer, and put it in the bowl. put cold water in the bowl. now dip the stick in the sauce (in the pot/pan) now put the stick in the water. then wait about 10 second (count your fingers) and take the stick out, and CARFULLY touch it, (the stick, AND the sauce) if it hurts, put it back in the water, and QUICKLY go put your fingers in running water (in the sink) if it doesn't hurt, touch it more, if it STILL doesn't hurt, or even feels cold, then bite down on it! now, if it goes CRUNCH like a lollypop, you can do the same thing you just did with the stick, except with fruit on the stick! (make sure to turn of the stove now, by turning the temperature onto zero) if it is soft, then keep cooking the mix, if you accidentally made it hotter than 300 (if you live in America) or 150 (if you don't live in America) then... either ask your parents, deal with soft tunhulu, or try something else. now you have T U N G H U L U if this helped you out, then press the thumbs up button on my comment, so that other kids like us can see it, and be helped out too! if you have any ways i could make this better, then leave a reply! you can ask your parents to type it for you.

Tropical fruit pronunciation guide: Rambutan: rahm-boo-tahn (literally means hairy in Malay) Longan: Long-ahn (comes from it's Cantonese name, literally means dragon's eye) Lychee: Lai-chee/Lee-chee (Lai-chee is how you would say it in Cantonese, whereas lee-chee is Mandarin, both are acceptable I guess) Pomelo: Poh-meh-low Well, that's just how we pronounce them in Malaysia.
