Deep Purple the grandfather of heavy medal. Iconic band. Yes the song is about the Vietnam War, or any war really.

Heavy metal 101: never, NEVER, pause a guitar solo... or any solo, for that matter. And if you must pause, if it will simply kill you to not pause that moment, then you must at least back up a few seconds. Whew, now that's out of the way... The late, great Jon Lord on the Hammond keys. An amazing composer as well as keyboardist. He played to his dying day. 🤘 That is Ritchie Blackmore on the guitar. One of the greatest speed/thrash guitarists ever... he basically pioneered the genre. Ian Gillan is the vocalist and lyricist. A beautiful, powerful voice... fun fact, he was the first Jesus in the inaugural stage play "Jesus Christ Superstar." Ian Paice is on the kit. Considered to be one of the great technical drummers, he is the only member of the band to not have been replaced at some point. Try: Highway Star Burn Speed King Stormbringer Smoke on the Water You will love them all!!

so many reactors focus too much on lyrics, feel the song, the greatness of the vocals, talent of the musicians.

Your right with your theory. It's a protest song against the Vietnam war

Young listeners today have such a love affair with lyrics but sometimes ya just gotta feel it.

exactly, im all for great lyrics, but gotta feel the song, the vibe of it 1st, otherwise may as well just react to some poetry :)

Ian Gillan voice is trained his range to extend from E2 to “G above soprano high C, or C6” (that'd be G6, right?) and I've seen other unsubstantiated claims that his range at the peak of his ability extended to 5 octaves.2 but his voice has changed and still tours.

Great choice, and great reaction!!! I'm not a huge DP fan, but they were essential in the development of heavy metal. My god, that voice! It has been "borrowed" by countless metal singers. Too bad that Ian Gillan and Ritchie Blackmore were too self absorbed to get along with each other. Regarding the meaning of the song, remember that this is Vietnam War era. The "piano" is a Hammond organ, a critical piece of equipment in the 60s and early 70s. Glad you moved up in the factory!

The problem was Ritchie, not Ian. Blackmore was notoriously 'difficult' and had an ego the size of the planet. He was ridiculously talented but a bit of an arsehole, tbh. :)

Don't know what the other options were but this was the one to go for. Ian Gillian sang in "Jesus Christ Superstar". here is the link to a report about it. ultimateclassicrock.com/jesus-christ-superstar-ian-gillan/ . In the meantime keep reacting to my generation British bands if you can Cheers from the UK. GREAT BRITAIN.

You need to know how to work the moments of interrupting the videos better, because it gives the impression that you are not involved with the music.
