Deep Purple Mark IV on the road in New Zealand 1975. Following the release of the critically acclaimed 1975 album, 'Come Taste The Band', DP MkIV (Paice/Lord/Hughes/Coverdale/Bolin) hit the road to promote the album with 2 big shows in New Zealand...Cool interviews with the band and their road crew and finishes with amazing live version of Smoke on the Water.

Jon is an absolute dream talker I could listen to him for hours a true true beautiful soul : ) The rest of the band are cool as fuck God I would give my right arm to look like Coverdale he still looks great even today! I love all four of the line ups from 68 to 76 I loved the reunion in 84 and the JLT fronted Purple in 1990 but I have no time at all for the Morse line up utter bollocks

Jon Lord 16:20 in 1974 "people still come to see The Stones". Here we are 50 years later and STILL people come to see The Stones! I loved this video. This was the line up of my first concert ever, Budokan, Tokyo, Dec 1975. But then they cut to the New Zealand gig but 20:02 play Made In Japan's "Somke on the Water" with Mk.II instead of Mk.IV?

Listen to the great Jon Lord, that¨s so wonderful. Miss you Jon Lord, R.I.P. you were the greatest organ player of all time. You really knew how to handle that Hammond. This was not the greatest period of their career, but Lord and Ian Paice, really rocked like always. It was a fantastic feeling, then they decided to go back together again in ´84, the REAL and TRUE Deep Purple. Saw them several times, great memories!

No more Ian.......No more me, man. Like Hughes solo records and have those and saw him with Keith Emerson on 1998 tour in S.F. Talked to Ian from London one morning the BBC in late nineties Top of Pops called me after I responded to there inquiries on there Web site weeks before. At 6:30 a.m. I got a phone call from BBC Top of the Pops show with Ian on the line. One Hell of a Wake Up Call as I had no idea they were going to call. Saw Deep Purple around that time period also at Warfield in S.F.

He had been hit or miss that whole tour but on Feb. 24th 1976 in El Paso, Tx. he was spot on. For one that grew up all things Blackmore, I was thoroughly satisfied w/the Purple that I saw. Eddie- Ronnie Padanova had his 1st singles back in 1958 with Ronnie and the Redcaps, he played bass also. In 1960 he 1st used Dio with the Redcaps and in '61 they became Ronnie Dio and the Prophets, with more regional singles out. In 1967 the Prophets became the Electric Elves until 1972 when they were just Elf, and released their 1st album as such. Then came 1975 and well, we all know the rest of that story. This has been your professor of knowledge from the Rock and Roll college. You're welcome.

So I checked with the kiwi inflation calculator and the cost of the Limousines in 1975 was $500, in 2020 that same cost is $5,203.00. I will tip my hat to bands that came out to New Zealand. It must have been a logistical nightmare and I imagine there was little or no profit to be had. There really wasn't much for young Kiwis to do in the Seventies either, so a rock band was always a welcome distraction.

Hughes voice has aged better than Coverdales. Glenn hit his peak in the 90s and 2000s, Coverdale in the 80s. Hughes is the better singer once he cleaned up imo

I wanted to ask: why "Deep Purple" 75th g appears on the video, but the composition" Smoke on the Water "sounds in the classical composition of the group? Shame on the author!

What an annoying mix-up. The interviews are good, but showing Coverdale, Bolin & Hughes, and playing Gillan, Blackmore & Glover does my head in. Did they think no one would notice?
