This is a great old 1970's classic. Thanks for the great reaction to a great memory! :) The singer, Ian Gillan, actually ended up doing an album (Born Again) as the singer for Black Sabbath, and he was also the original Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar. The great lead guitar player is Ritchie Blackmore (Smoke on the Water, Child in Time), who later went n to found Rainbow, which featured Dio before Dio went to Black Sabbath. This (1972) was the age of giants, with Tony Iommi/Black Sabbath, Ritchie Blackmore/Deep Purple, and Jimmy Page/Led Zeppelin.

Yes, you are right about that. I bought the Made In Japan in the 70s as a teenager. Great band!!! You have good taste in music The song Smoke On The Water is why I bought my all-clear Ludwig drum set in 1970 and started playing drums..

Smoke On The Water was not even written in 1970. It was written in 1971 for the Machine Head album which was released in 1972. I am a Deep Purple historian so I know about these things.
