Steve Morse was such a good replacement for Blackmore. Not only is he technically skilled enough to hold his own against Blackmore, but he brought his own unique sound to the band. They did a lot of really good music together.

Love Steve from the first Dixie Dregs to The Dregs, and everything since. ..but I never liked the DP change over Ritchie... Steve's sound is all wrong for the Classics and while he is one of the best guitarist's I ever watched I can never hear these songs without thinking it's all wrong. No hate, I just prefer Ritchie and always will with DP.

Steve Morse is a immortal player. However Ritchie Blackmore was also a song writer - thats some people forget to give him credit for. What that means is that there would not have been a Deep Purple without Blackmore iconic songs, including Smoke on the water. Peace and love to everyone.
