Great tone and great lesson as well Sir! I am a Strat lover and green is my fav so your special Strat is a beautiful thing to me. Thank you for taking the time to zero in on the correct dynamics and phrasings of these classic solo's and sharing with us. At 60 I'm really enjoying these and my wife is like"how are you learning these so quickly all of a sudden, did you make a deal with the devil?". Haha!
@PDXguitarfreak

Hey thanks Scott, I appreciate the very nice comment! The green on the Strat is pretty divisive based on the comments around it... people love it or hate it LOL (in person, the pickguard looks iridescent and very vivid... camera doesn't do it justice). Your wife comment had me laugh too. Keep pickin' bro. :)

First off I want to thank you for that. Second aside from being a very gifted guitarist you also are a brilliant teacher. I'm a novice guitarist but when I try to learn for me what seems like a complex solo even if I don't get it I find I learn many things along the way. I bought that album back in 73. That was my first 33. Thanks again brother.

I have to learn this solo for my cover band. I have to say first, I'm not that good with leads in general (getting better though), but I have to thank you for the perfect lesson. I still have a couple spots to smooth out, but with your help and after only a week, I'm able to limp my way through it now. A couple more days or a week of practice on this and I should be ready to play it at our show next month. You've made things really easy to understand and having it played normally and slowed made it easier to hear and see how everything fit together. Thanks, Dude!

Freak you should start a class on how to make a guitar lesson video THE RIGHT WAY for almost every other KZbinr who does guitar lessons on here. Seriously your video lessons are straight forward and to the point and clearly explained WITHOUT all the unnecessary B.S and showing off by showing a particular part then for no reason whatsoever start doing some blazing fast scale or pentatonic run or fiddle fruck with a out of tune guitar 10 times in the video.
@PDXguitarfreak
@PDXguitarfreak 5 жыл бұрын
LOL thanks bro! I just make these lessons the way I would want to learn if I was watching. Show me the tabs (the correct ones!), slow down the phrasing, and point out any little inflections that the tab doesn't necessarily convey easily. I also really don't have patience for videos where the instructor walks you slowly through every single note "okay, now play the 8th fret of the g string, followed by the 9th fret, and then the 11th fret..." That drives me crazy. People think it might be more work for the instructor, but it's not. Taking the time to properly tab it and do the video editing I do, probably takes 5x longer. Okay, I'll shut up now, and thank you! LOL :)
@djay6651
@djay6651 5 жыл бұрын
The irony is that I've learned a lot if licks from PDX's videos because they are shorter and straight to the point, but I'm still thinking they are somewhat short and I'm waiting for more video, but everything has already been explained sufficiently.

Hi Dave ! Nice to christen the stratocaster on probably the most iconic riff/solo in rock music history !!!! Sounds fantastic and the guitar looks awesome ! I saw Deep Purple live several times in the mid70s. Great shows of course, but you may be surprised to hear that the organ of Jon Lord was the feature of each show! Not Ritchie Blackmore !!!! A lot of bands had organs playing in the shows, but as rock got harder, it faded away ! Nowadays rock music is so guitar centered looking back Ritchie is the star since he played guitar. In reality Jon Lord was just as much , if not more, the feature musician of Deep Purple.
@PDXguitarfreak
@PDXguitarfreak 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob thanks for the cool comment. That doesn’t surprise me. Jon is a great player too. Although I admit sometimes I wish they would lower him in the mix so we could hear Richies rhythm guitar better :)
